    Feel you bro, hat3 mixing my own stuff. Enjoy mixing others usually. Try and turn it into a fun thing, like "ou lemme see what i can do to my drums. As for acapellas, you probably don't really need to compress th3m or such. I just give some low cut and balance them.

    This is the hardest part about it tbh. I know who/what would sound hot on a beat, but wheather that is available or not is a different story. And then sometimes the only suitable acapella available os one you've already used before.

    If a theme has vocals YES I'll generally dismiss non vocal tracks. 'Cause I feel like come on producer, show us what you can do. It's a different game. It's all well and good just making sounds, but marching vocals to a beat, mixing, and other factors, really bring an added dimenion to things...

    I think a lot of plugins etc of yesteryear don't match up with stuff of today. Even newer technologies. But if what you got lets you do what you do, then no need I guess. But considered maybe stuff of today could let you do what you do but just better.

    Yeah mine have a 'sidechain' function built in, that operates as a highpass. I often use this until the balance between the bounce of the needle from kick to snare looks a little nicer Yeah this is me. I mean I'm having a hard time judging the needle on my tape meters... it goes into red...

    I used to have a similar issue mixing vocals too quiet just by a tad. Usually my drums dominate too. In terms of mix. I love big drums. Tbh, I actually didn't use many plugins on this mix compared to usual (lately speaking). And even on my master I left out maybe half of the plugins I usually...

    I love that ill is like a lovely little island for Hip-Hop to live. I love that it feels like (and is) more than 'just using a website', it's a community, a sense of belonging. To be here, you are ill. A hang out, a home, for Hip-Hop makers.
