Are you trying to make it in the UK, even if not in the UK some of the advice here could be invaluable
The Unsigned Guide I bought a copy of the unsigned guide many years ago and the advice inside it was very informative, even if your arent from the UK. Its purely digital now, I havent signed back up yet but will do soon, just thought Id share a great resource. Also posted this thinking of you...- 2GooD Productions

Does anybody pay for drum samples? Do you recommend any libraries?
Im still around, just not so active when working all the hours god sends. Did 35 hours overtime last month, cant wait for pay day, I want my new laptop....badly.- 2GooD Productions

There are always exceptions to the rule but if you aim generally for a more aggressive battle type beat then you are far more likely to win.
