    Yeah I had a feeling whether people would realise I sampled the synth/string from 'song 1' and used it to create the main melody which was in perhaps 75% of the beat! I also did use the bass from 'song 2', but I introduced it in the outro-ish section of the beat, originally it was in the verse...

    And honestly, the shittest + best advice: just listen. Use your ears. Most people doing eq and compression with no idea why. Listen to the track... what's wrong? Then find a solution to what's wrong. Many are trying to apply solutions before knowing the problem. And so just end up with problems.

    Here's a good approach. Just balance your levels. (Volumes of tracks) Just do that. Don't do all this eqing and compressing. Just balance the levels so everything kinda sits together well and nothing is too loud or quiet. Only then if something can't be heard without making it too loud do you...
