    Warzone Beat Battle - October 16-17, 2020

No matter how well mixed n mastered you think your home stuff is (i probably even agree), labels will likely want that shit re mixed and re mastered. I known engineers with serious plaques who stopped working with majors, one reason because how many times they want mixes altered.

Like paying for professional mixing and mastering. ;) That's all well and good... but are you going go to university 3 years for a design degree to do your own EPK, study filmmaking a further 3 years, video editing a further 3 years, go get a mixing degree. Or are you gonna spend your time...

    Warzone Beat Battle - October 16-17, 2020

Nope. Times are changing, but facts remain. Some labels sure are lazy, and they look for a finished product just to sign n release it. But when they actually want a proper act, artist, producer, they're coming for your content, not your mastering skills. Pretty sure even Timbaland reiterated...

imho tho, a lot of what people may view as mixing issues, is in my opinion, bad production choices. For example, you have a kick and a snare, they kinda don't sound right, so you do loads of "eqing" and reverb, and "saturation" or whatever else. But it still won't sound right. Whereas the...

Are these beat battles or mix battles? or mastering battles? I dunno, should we start including artwork too? After all, tracks get released with artwork, it's part of the whole package of a record.

    Warzone Beat Battle - October 16-17, 2020

Never said any of that but do go on. You gotta remember firstly you were actually agreeing with my point about saying better beats maybe lost out - which means your ears largely agree with mine. I also distinctly remembering one of your beats in early rounds and thinking how good it sounded -...

Hmm i dunno... cause even tho there is plenty of science in mixing, mixing is largely agreed to be an art. A dark art at that. But mixing is subjective. The same track could be mixed a myriad of ways; all of them can be "right" and all of them can be good. One might prioritise the bass whilst...

    Warzone Beat Battle - October 16-17, 2020

I dunno re mixing/eq'ing etc, I mean... I pretty much agree. There are certain beats that are probably really let down by production quality. But sometimes it's a mix. Like some that probably sound 'cool' to people 'cause high quality samples and slammed through a limiter, some i find kinda dead...

Dilla delay on the snare for producers

Real nice "feel" you've got on this one brother. When i was making disco style tracks I'd push the snares slightly forward. I also used to push em slightly forward on some hiphop tracks. Sometimes to flam a snare with a clap or something.

Attack of the Beats! - Battle #187

:bomb::fire: Good fucking lord, those beats!!! Glad I didn't submit anything to go alongside these! @crosstevsky that was dope, brother! Not usually into these kinda beats, but that was niiice @Primz that was the dopest thing I've heard anywhere in a while. I wouldn't hesitate to slap...

    Beat This! - October 7-8, 2020

:up2: Thanks my dude, appreciate that. It's funny, 'cause I had that feeling too. "This was menna be RnB, but I'm kinda hearing it suit a rapper better" -- i kinda accepted that on this one, but it's usually a problem i used to face lots when attempting rnb (n maybe still), where it'd end up...

    Beat This! - October 7-8, 2020

Thanksss, brother! Glad you like it! I'm actually really pleased with this one myself. It's actually the slowest beat I've ever made. It's a weird one for me. It was kinda menna be RnB, but kinda modern whilst also having older vibes. I tried to give it a more modern sound by the drum choices...

    Beat This! - October 7-8, 2020

. QUESTION! (Jokes aside), what kinda of genre or subgenre/style whatever would you categorize my beat as??? (i.e. trap, boom bap, etc etc) also does it sound old, new, current, hybrid, relevant etc?

    Beat This! - October 7-8, 2020

When I saw your reaction to someone mentioning Snoop Dogg I figured haha. Possibly would have from yesterday's jokes too. Drums knock as always, beautiful sounds tho - maybe didn't expect the prettiness from you! Pleasant surprise, but like I been saying lately, I'm a fan!
