    *** Beat This! January 8, 2012 Voting ***

Thanks, I really wasnt expecting to win that after reading the comments. And being stuck without being able to mix properly on pc speakers is killing me. I really love the strings in your track, I want them. Some dope beats in this, thanks for the votes.

    What Constitutes a Classic Album?

A classic album to me is one that sounds just as good now as it did when it came out. A lot of what came out in the early to mid 90's(golden era) has that appeal to me. Albums made of great tracks all the way through, not one or two "hits" and the rest filler. I could start naming names of...

DP. I think that is really good. My only critique would be the dynamics. From sampling this type of music and seeing the waveforms, I dont think the track is dynamic enough. Its seems to be a fairly level volume throughout. I have found on this type of music although like always there are no...

Adding 'Weight' To Your Snare Hits

I think it really depends on if you are having a bassline or not, with no bassline then a bigger fuller beat is needed and I suppose a bassier snare would work well in that situation.

Adding 'Weight' To Your Snare Hits

I agree with sucio. You want to avoid adding mud, you can always layer a lower freq snare to achieve more low end body without adding too much bass freq which will clash with basslines. Giving the bassline as much room to breathe as possible it what allows for a rich bassline along with punchy...

Thanks for all the feedback, I agree with anyone that said the synth hook doesnt work, I have to agree. Im also a bit surprised that people like the mixing. Because my proper studio monitors are all packed away and these tracks were mixed on £19.99 desktop pc speakers. I honestly dont have any...

Chisel. Thanks for the feedback. I really like the drums in your beat, it really helps to achieve the "faux-sampled" sound. Nice instrumentation too. Im not sure about the parts where it goes silent, seems a bit abrupt, maybe ease the silence in a bit, but thats just my opinion. Just...

OK heres my flip, I honestly cant vouch for mix quality, its mixed on pc desktop speakers, but thats what Im stuck with for now. https://www.illmuzik.com/artists-edit/?artist_id=5131&music Solace. Thats a dope flip, real grimy. I like the use of the samples. Odbarq. This is a cool flip, I...

Is there something that will control volume...

Yeah a limiter would be better than just normalising the tracks, you have more control. Normalising is just automatic limiting anyway.
