I used to do drums first all the time but it just felt somewhat robotic for some of the beats, so now I do melody first. I just feel I have more room to create and I'm not restricted by following a drum pattern right away.- Fade

Yeah with drums it's hard to get that right balance in the mix. For me it's usually the hats if they're too loud or not in the mix. It's just about balance. But also it could come down to if you do your beat with drums or melody first.- Fade
