i beg to differ, you can always record riffs from the motif using the headphone output of the motif into the audio in on the soundcard, you can the take the recorded riffs and import them into reason using the nnxt. word, upgrading to my Audiophile card from my Soundblaster platinum made a hell of a lot of difference. It made recording straight from the internet impossible but for sound quality, its impeccable in comparison to the old card.- 2GooD Productions

Best VSTi for the buck
Ways and means......just play reason as a slave in a program like acid pro or Ableton or whatever supports rewire, then you have the option to add vst's too. But like LDB pointed out, vsts can hog processor power so outputting to audio before going to the next instrument is a great tip.- 2GooD Productions

Using stock pads and atmospheres etc.
I use stock reason patches on every composition I make. They key is tuning the patch to taste and adding fx to make it work better for you. Some patches are beyond hope, but theres some goodies in there too. I dont often use pads for hiphop, but for dnb they are essential.- 2GooD Productions
