Do you all use offset rather than changing the snap then?

    Swing

Just set a four four rhythm of hats, then go into the piano roll, set the snap to none and slightly move the spacing between the hits. Try stuff like (and I quote) ting tingti ting tingti etc

    Thickening piano sounds

I use fruity loops, so any vsts or crap in wav formats fine, cause I've gota half decent sampler on board. I've just been using the stock fruity loops piano which is good for stuff like jazz etc, but doesn't really have the depth. I might do a bit of looking round for a nice multisampled...

    Microhone Volume Troubles

Just a quick one, is it a condenser mic, cause in that case you'll need some phantom power or a power pack to get the volume up

What instrument do you play best?

    Lol, true :)

    Thickening piano sounds

Yeah, deuce it's all good stuff, and I know you can fatten it out with putting the same notes an octace higher or lower, but in general I try to make things play as close to real life as I can, so I had a right hand section, and left hand section and left it at that. The real problem was that...

    Thickening piano sounds

Thanks guys, great advice. I had most of the actual chord porgression sorted with the left hand stuff in too, so a bit of eq, compression then a healthy dose of reverb and a little distortion seems to have done the job nicely.

    Thickening piano sounds

I've been working on this big epic pianoey thing, just using a vst, but the piano sound is really thin, and doesn't have much power behind it. Anyone got any ideas for how to get a decent fat sound on keys?

    FADE.... Here's an idea..

Lol, thats crazy, I find it easier working from an acapella. It kinda gives me a structure I'm forced to stick to and you can mould the song to fit the voice rather than it having to come from nowhere. I guess I'm a bit wierd in that way huh :)

    Producers block

Slumps ain't all that bad, just try and experiment with wierd stuff, effects and that. Swivel - keep the sample for the beat in the background and have a mess round with it every once in a while but keep other stuff going on, I often find that helps.

so now everyone's doing a Kanye west????

Humm, it's an interesting one, but I think it's OK, all music goes in waves of styles, so with dance it was techno, then electroclash, with rock it was britpop then garage rock, I guess now hip-hop is in soul/kanye stylee phase. For me its not getting too boring casue I hardly listen to any...

    FLstudio Masters: Innovation

Ok, not really a fruity specific one this, but a nice effect which I've been working on making something out of with this as atmospherics. It uses a coupla third parts vst effects, mda roundpan and classic phaser - available from http://www.mda-vst.com/ and...

    FADE.... Here's an idea..

How would it work, get someone like Merc or Stress to drop a vocal or do it with a signed artist and "yoink" the acapella?

    All IllMuzikers Jump For Joy

Humm, I should very probably invest in some ear defenders of some kind for concerts. Come out the next day hearing like I've got fur stuffed in my ears. God's right too, your ears cope better with music at lower levels and so you get a more realistic indication of the actual sound, it comes...
