Is This True?
Definitely. You have to maintain a good gain structure when mixing a record. I usually start with my kicks at -10db, and by the time the rest of the music is in with vocals the song is sitting at -5 or so. It's easy to raise the volume after, but its hard to lower the volume after it's maxed...
