Im looking for a comprehensive list of blogs: indie, non-blog-affiliated artists can connect with. Or we can build one here!

Does anyone have a list of blogs to post to for promo purposes? Obviously this benefits most on this site, as well as ILLRecs.

Any links?

you know, i would be well down for supplying some stuff for a blog, if someone got some hosting sorted....well well well down....

also i have been doing PR for my label recently and what you need to do is complie a list yourself (google hip hop blogs - i have obviously been googling Bass music/electronica/dance music blogs...and send a speculative email to them.... it has to be personal though and related to them.... here is the email i sent out.... i tailer each one to each different blog...

"Hi Oli,

Sorry about sending that mail to Fabric, I tried and tried to find the sonic router one but I just couldn’t, maybe I am an idiot and it was right in front of me! sorry if it was….

My name is Alex Kennedy and I co run Oeuvre Records with my partner. The last thing we released was Raoul Sinier’s Cymbal Rush Ep on 12.” We don’t have any P&D and use EPM for promo usually, but we are having a go at the promo ourselves this time (we aint rich!)

Anyway, I really, really, really like Sonic Router, I religiously read both the blog itself and the Quietus column and love it every time! (makes work go by that little bit faster!) I really like the passion and the writing style, and obviously, the mixes! You personally have turned me onto quite a few people I would never have heard of before! Which is brilliant (if not a bit annoying! I like to discover people myself! Not that that is a problem really, as it is all about decent music at the end of the day!)

Anyway (again!) I was wondering if we could slip a couple of EPs your way that are going to be released in the next couple of months??? They are by two unknown artists, but we really enjoy the approaches taken. The first one is kind of Maximal bass techno, a reverse of minimal as such… It is pretty weird and psychedelic, raw and lo fi I really like it because I think it is pretty different from conventional stuff!

The second is a wonky dub hip hop project, that is first being released as instrumental, but further down the line is going to be re released as vocal hip hop…. It has massive bass, dub effects, glitch, cuts, vocal edits etc etc….

We would really appreciate it if you could have a listen and tell us what you think!

I am at work now, but I could send you some stuff over tonight if you fancy…"

the bit in bold is the paragraph that i amended depending on the blog i am targeting....so far out of the 30 journalists i trieds to send through to, i have secured 2 reviews and a feature... and that was sending fully tagged MP3s via mediafire! i am going to hit it harder again in about a week, which will be two weeks before the release date for the first one.... you need to specutively approach people about 6 weeks to a month before, then hit them hard for feedback about two weeks before the release date to ensure maximum efficiency....

safe!

Its 6 something Ive been searching since 3 or so (google). Got about 8 sites I know will vibe to my music, its seperating those that actually listen to non popish hiphop (indie/underground) and those that listen to some other genre or top 40ish hiphop.

The info is good, during my travels Ive encountered some posts from blogger basically saying what you are, thanks!

Fade, lets make it happen!

I'll post what Ive found and maybe turn this into full Blog Submission resource, but the suns rising and I need rest lol. Im out.

People, please post blogs you know will support indie hiphop!

yea, i dont like them blog aggregators TBH....

i think that google does the same thing...

dont think hip hop is blogged too much about either...

90% of all NET LABELS do electronic dance music, so im pretty sure that that figure also applies to music blogs....

tough to break it in hip hop, traditional hip hop that is nowadays, becasuse unlike the democratic scene that is dance, hip hops means of production and distribution are kept locked away behind massive bank vaults... you have to be in the boy club to make a dent or so it would seem...

but if you market yourself as ALT HOP or WONKY, you can make it into the dance blogs and get a lot more love generally....its all perception.... the hip hop of the gutter is gone.... unless you market it as NEW boom bap or future boom bap or wonk....

weird that.... but i think definately something for people here to think about....this is my opinion from seeing what is covered....

look at Clams Casino - he is blowing u p because he has been aligned with the SoCal wonk regardless of his actual beats, which if you have heard L'il B are no more than standard mordernish boom pap...
