Round 2:

@Bandia Gotach - Again with more traditionally boom-bap drums....nice! Like your R1 beat, very nice mix. Everything meshes well together, and has it's own space to shine. I love that high, sinister piano line. I thought it was a smart moving easing into the more robust orchestral elements. While it helps created a wide dynamic, I think I'd like to hear more of that fuller orchestral section. What I thought was really clever was how you doubled, emphasized certain parts to create tension and suspense. That low piano note, and that high piano line. While I didn't notice it on the first listen, I certainly felt it.

@Iron Keys - Bold choice going for an organ centric beat for Round 2. I prefer the drums on this beat more than your R1 beat. That 80s sounding synth with the vocals is a nice touch! Maybe just a taste thing, but I didn't particularly care for that melody. Sound selection and mix are good - but the melody didn't quite grab me.

@Earsblower - There's one thing about this beat I didn't like, and I'll get to it at the end. What I did like was the introspective quality to it - "Memories" is a very fitting title. I hear a lot of elements - muted guitars, mallets, strings, piano, delayed percussion, and of course vocals. Again, you did a great job of filling space and getting all these little pieces to created a streamlined narrative. I think I'm even hearing a lower register vocal bit layered in there too! Now, the one thing I didn't like was that kick. It sounds very disconnected from the smooth, serene, and ephemeral nature of everything. Not sure if it's just a personal taste, but I don't feel as blown out 808 really matches this vibe.

@Armani - fuck you bitch! LOL - just playing, this is a dope beat. On the first listen, I thought maybe I could get past you in R2. The drums are nice, but I thought the kick was a bit rounder and synthetic sounding compared to the rest. I knew I was in trouble is when that low piano kicks in at 0:28. That middle section with the pianos, strings, and little 'frills' tucked up in the mix. I did find the main jangly bit got a bit grating - but it fit every element it was paired against in the beat. That middle section at 1:28 is super dope! It really dials back, and works to re-build energy while introducing new elements. nicely done bro! Where I think you had me was mix and variety. Your beat builds and wanes, gets introspective, then builds again.

@2GooD Productions - Not my fav from you. It has a good mix, good groove, and nice sound selection. The main chord progression is nice and has an emotive quality to it - but I felt it was a bit TOO clean. Wish I had more insightful feedback. Sorry bro.

@M.I.ndless - While I appreciate the simplicity and genuineness of the beat - it's hard to stand up against some of the other beats in Battle That - especially something that was near over produced like 2Gs beat. I thought the drums felt a bit stiff to start. but they did open up and have a bit more groove towards the middle section. Again, this felt like you had "Idea 1A" and "Ideas 1B" and needed to find a way to put them together.

Round 3:

@Bandia Gotach - Spooky shit! I had to turn the lights on listening to this lol. It's nice to hear you sneaking your industrial sensibilities with boom-bap drums! That build to the release at 0:33 was masterfully done! Then like an EDM synth stab? lol Dope! This is such a well put together piece of music. Feels like a car chase scene, or fight scene from the Nolan Batman films. Like that scene from the first movie where Batman is fucking up Ras Al'ghul on the train? I mentioned early, that sometimes these cinematic/score type beats lack a melodic anchor, but in this case, I don't think it really needs anything more than what you have going. That opening piano line and the layer underneath is enough tie the listener in while the scene develops and evolves around it. I also like how you have the strings take over that theme. I had to listen back a few times to figure out why it flowed sooo smoothly - and that seems to be the trick. You also did something sneaky with the hi-hats. Doubling them up like that was such an effective way to add energy to the, energetic, section of the beat. Fuck yeah!

@Earsblower - That glossy, warm, blues guitar to open sounds sooo nice! Then the wistful violin line. Both create so much emotion! Minor gripe, I don't think the bluesy guitar line fits perfectly with the traditional harmonic minor violin line. I like how you used that glitchy/stutter effect on the violins to transition into the next section. I think the mix was well done. The hi-hats feel nice being soo open Left and Right. Nice touch closing them a bit for the quieter sections. These are the little details that. again are more felt than heard, that take a beat from good to great! The second theme that comes in at 2:19 is nice as well. I mentioned that "sinister toy box" sound isn't quite my flavour but its used well here to provide a break from the main theme. Cool beat bro!

@Armani - While I like the energy, and the intro, there's a quality to this that I didn't quite care for. The only way I can explain it is "Just Blaze but Street Fighter Music." It's got this Ken Theme pop-ballad sound that seems a bit hokey. I really don't mean to sound rude or hyper critical. I will say that once it gets into the second section around 0:51 it becomes more enjoyable, then again at 1:32 mark...to me. Mix is clean, and it's certainly got energy. Drums do a great job of mirroring that energy and keeping the bounce going, it's just that main line that wore me down man.

@2GooD Productions - fitting match-up against Armani this round. Both beats have some elements of funk/motown. Bass line bounces along nicely and has a great warm, round tone. Again, there is nothing out of place here. Everything works nicely and the beat is great...maybe just a bit too clean. Quality production, not miss-steps anywhere to be heard.

Finals:

@Bandia Gotach - while I think this is as technically proficient as your R3 beat, I think it doesn't seem to have the "X factor" your R3 beat did. In fact, I think had you flipped your R3 and 4 beats - the case could be made for you to have won the whole thing! Very well mixed, sound selection on point, and great attention to details. You establish and use the sense of space really well. Near, far, left and right are all occupied but not over stuffed. The only bit I didn't care for was that horn line at 0:44. While I do appreciate that marching, war song quality, it stuck out a bit too much in the mix and thematically. Overall, cool track, and more impressive, the quality across all 4 rounds!

@2GooD Productions - Big, bad ass and epic! Nice match up against Bandia with the horns and boldness! I like the combination of cinematic/orchestral and funky/soulful. Super clean, and well put together. My one dislike, is that toy-box chimey/bell thing. It sounds dissonant and out of key. It does add a nice textural quality, but the repetitiveness of it, and being out of key, really bugged me. The guitar line I did really like however. It was used sparingly and helped to add energy and tension without being distracting...which I probably would've done lol.

Funny enough, I don't think these were the strongest from you two in the Battle, but you both were deserving to be here. Formats like this are interesting because you never know how it'll go or who/what you'll be matched up against.

Congrats @2GooD Productions on the win, and damn good showing @Bandia Gotach - fun final and some great beats!

Thanks @BiggChev . Appreciate the feedback. Glad to be battling again. Still working on transitioning to a mainly DAWless workflow, so experimentation is big rn. Second round beat not up to par, and I knew it, but at least I have two more beats in the quiver.
