As much as you dislike the phrase "you cant mix what you cant hear" its true. Took me years to truly realise it. Otherwise its hit and miss and luck getting it right, or you end up relying on visual aids instead of using your ears. That's why its best practice to test a mix on headphones, hifi speakers, in a car etc to see how it translates across different mediums. Whether we actually do it or not is another thing entirely. I never do tbh. I should at the very least test a mix on headphones but tbh, I very rarely ever do.
Before I had decent monitoring and a sub my mixes would fall down on any system with a sub, the bass would be way too overpowered.
That's why VSX is fucking brilliant. I know pros with expensive treated rooms who will still use it as a translation check. If they're working on the road they'll use it exclusively.

Lesson learned: I shouldn't pass judgment on things I'm not very knowledgeable about, because then someone skilled comes along and I end up looking foolish.
Nah man I don't even see it as judgement just personal preference and constructive criticism. Like @Iron Keys said, everyone's opinion has a place and that holds weight with me especially if they take the time to listen to my work. I'll take in any type thoughts I can get because I know everyone has certain preferences and ways they feel like something should sound and "everyone" is who I want listening to my beats and who I want to make my beats better for. It doesn't always mean I'm going to take every criticism as law and change the way I get what sounds right to me, but I'll for sure take note and recognize if there really is something worth changing regarding the subject. At the very least I think it's interesting just to see other people's point of view and what they listen for in a track. I remember seeing some opinions on other people's beats on here that I didn't quite agree with but it definitely doesn't make those opinions any less valid to me as long as it's coming from a constructive place. Again thanks to both of yall for sharing your points of view I love it!

I see, thanks for making me feel comfortable. Finally I just want to change my device: keep your sound.
