Congrats @2GooD Productions - This is very robust piece of music man. It has several notable elements/instruments, sections, and movements. Starting with the sweet but melancholic vocals is a great initial hook. I like how you brought in the near abrasive horn stabs. Adds another layer of emotion to the flowing nature of the vocals. Then you sprinkle in some nice ear candy with that delay brass of sorts, plucky strings, pad like choral element and that super dope climbing wind line. The journey this takes in just 2 minutes is crazy. It reminds me of 'Michel Menert - Same Disease' in the way it evolves. Very dope.
@thekoolkrush - Loved this beat! A lot of your music gives me mid 2000s Roc-A-Fella. There's some Just Blaze, Kanye, Heatmakerz, vibes in here. I can hear a big Roc posse cut. Tons of soul and groove. Mix wise, I think this is one of the cleanest mixes I've heard from you. Not that I didn't like the crunchy textures you've brought before, but more in terms of clarity. Bass, drums, vocals, and melodic elements all sit nicely and mesh together nicely. The fills, chops, horn stabs - all around a dope beat!
@Armani - Super funky! This is giving me Commodores and G-Funk vibes. Mix is nice and the arrangement flows seamlessly from one section to the next. I like the layers and dimension of this. From the high sustained strings, wide rhythm guitars, groovy bass - this fills really well L-R and Top to Bottom. Nice little bits of ear candy as well. Snare wasn't quite wet enough. Otherwise, no real comments man, very well done.
@crog85 - Brooding and dark! I'll be honest, this isn't my flavour of hip-hop, but I think it's executed really well. The 808s have tons of body and weight, but it's not an ignorant 808 that completely over-powers the track like many in this style do. Arp piano is always a nice touch, and I like that you flip registers to keep it moving. That being said, I think there was an opportunity to really explore that melodic element further and create some added movement. I do like the glitchy/reverse bits that act as texture and harmony.
@DJ Excellence - This run you've been on needs to be studied. Leading up to, winning, and since Battle That has been pure gems from you. I'm kinda surprised you went more subdued and ephemeral with this one. I love the flowing lyrical nature of the piano and then big lift when the strings/pads come in. Oh shit...that big change and finish!! Masterful my man! I felt like I was in a jazz bar, drinking an old fashion and hitting on a sexy bar maid.
@allagory - Marked improvement from your earlier works. I quite like the piano line...in key and has a nice bounce. I like that you also have more than one drum element. However, it feels like the drums, high pianos and low piano are all in different tempo's or time signatures - and that's mostly because of the drums. This piece is either written at 80 or 160bpm, wrt to the piano it doesn't matter because the left hand is basically half time the right - BUT - the drums, particularly the hi-hat seems to be at a 80bpm cadence while the kick and snare don't hint one way or the other. The reason being, there's no clear back-beat (which is typically found on the snare). The way the kick seems to be falling into the snare suggest it's 160bpm but you're following a 80 cadence. I think just shifting and squaring up the drums a bit could really breathe some groove into this. Keep working!
@Bandia Gotach - From the intro to the end, I liked everything about this beat....except that kick/bass combo. I can hear some nice punch under the kick, but that over-blown sound ain't doing it for me. That second melody, and counter, with the big bells and chimes that comes in at 0:42 is SOOOO dope. That whirly-dhirly bit in the middle is definitely a choice, but it leads soo well into the back end with the big bold horns. Very unique piece for sure. As also, mood, atmosphere is where your music really shines.

@Delta Skeltah - That kick and the cowbell put me in a fucking time machine! I like that this has a general 80s vibe. Pop, synthwave, and hip-hop. Not my favourite from you, but I like this crunchy, tape saturated - stretched out VHS sound. Near vapour-wave aesthetic to it. I could get a lot of work done with this in the background.
@Earsblower - The details in your music is next level man. There are soo many little things that are executed really well, and the compounding effect of them gives up epic pieces of music like this. From all aspects (sound design, mix, transitions, arrangement) you really nail it. I love how, while there are a lot of unique independent elements, you balance them well and it doesn't distract from the beat as a whole. That in mind, I think 2 minutes doesn't do this beat justice. It sounds like you can't wait to show us the next section - a longer arrangement letting each section breathe and marinate more could do well to let this beat build on that hypnotic quality it has. Really fucking dope!
@Leopard Cohen - Dreamy, loose, with an unbothered/care-free vibe. That bass tone is fucking juicy! I love how chill and relaxed this is. The shimmery e-piano/bell?? is a nice touch and really adds to the dreamscape quality. Then the vocals kick in and you fall even deeper into the vibe. Love this!
@M.I.ndless - That's how you do an intro! I was listening to some JMT today and this kinda reminds me of Stoupe's beats. Really dope sample, and I can see why you'd get excited with it. I do think you maybe got too excited about it. Sounds like you tried to jam as many cool parts of the source sample into this beat. From the strings, to the big church organs, and the glissandos. It's a lot. That isn't actually a gripe more of an observation - my main critique is the bass. It's a great bass tone, and a really nice bass line BUT I don't think it fits harmonically with everything else, at least not all parts. That bass sounds like it's in a minor blues/pentatonic scale while the rest is in a harmonic minor.
@MalakaBeats - As mentioned early, this isn't my style of hip-hop. That over-blown 808, or 808s as basslines in general don't really do it for me. I do appreciate the fighting game samples! Sound selection suits the genre and I think it all works well together.
@oninkaf - I'm not sure if you remember that period in the late 90s where Pop acts were incorporating alt-pop and electronica and layering serene melodic ambient music over wicked break-beats, but this gives me that vibe. Think Moby - Play. I really love everything about this. It's a mood and half and I could listen to this all day. Musically, this is perfect. It has emotion, flow, and depth to it - just maybe a bit too 'polite' for a battle?
@P.A.T. - Put this on a mixtape with @oninkaf 's beat and I could space all the way out. There's a cinematic quality to this, in addition to, the pensive quality of the vocals and guitar. I can hear a longer arrangement with some emotive, sustained strings and a delicate plucky counter melody. Very nice. I'm also assuming you played guitar? If so, extra musicianship points!
@SJAMBOK BEATS - I have to commend you on work ethic and output. You've been on a crazy productive run! Listening to the intro, I was wondering where this would go. I didn't really care for that square/8-bit synth, but when everything else kicks in, it really fits nicely into the bounce of it all. The wavy synth at 1:06 is really dope. I think the actual melody it's playing could use a bit of fine-tuning. Overall. I really like this style of big bad ass breaks against bold synths. It's a cool sound and you do it well.
@Stan1 - Mixes are getting better! I love the drums on this. the jittery hats, fills, and the slap-back on the snare! The littler open-hat interjections are used well, almost like punctuation markers. Piano chops are gorgeous and fit the overall vibe nicely. I could be wrong, but this sounds completely free-hand - with no quantization. Not that it has to be, but something sounds a bit out of the ordinary. Like there's a beat missing, or an extra beat somewhere. It also sounds like your have some 3 or 5 bar patterns which may factor into that feeling as well. Even still, one of the better joints I've heard from you.

You are right on that bassline, and I only really heard the difference after submission when I listened on another pair of headphones, just one of those things (I'm away from studio and mixed all on Beats earbuds). @allagory - Marked improvement from your earlier works. I quite like the piano line...in key and has a nice bounce. I like that you also have more than one drum element. However, it feels like the drums, high pianos and low piano are all in different tempo's or time signatures - and that's mostly because of the drums. This piece is either written at 80 or 160bpm, wrt to the piano it doesn't matter because the left hand is basically half time the right - BUT - the drums, particularly the hi-hat seems to be at a 80bpm cadence while the kick and snare don't hint one way or the other. The reason being, there's no clear back-beat (which is typically found on the snare). The way the kick seems to be falling into the snare suggest it's 160bpm but you're following a 80 cadence. I think just shifting and squaring up the drums a bit could really breathe some groove into this. Keep working!
@Bandia Gotach - From the intro to the end, I liked everything about this beat....except that kick/bass combo. I can hear some nice punch under the kick, but that over-blown sound ain't doing it for me. That second melody, and counter, with the big bells and chimes that comes in at 0:42 is SOOOO dope. That whirly-dhirly bit in the middle is definitely a choice, but it leads soo well into the back end with the big bold horns. Very unique piece for sure. As also, mood, atmosphere is where your music really shines.

@Delta Skeltah - That kick and the cowbell put me in a fucking time machine! I like that this has a general 80s vibe. Pop, synthwave, and hip-hop. Not my favourite from you, but I like this crunchy, tape saturated - stretched out VHS sound. Near vapour-wave aesthetic to it. I could get a lot of work done with this in the background.
@Earsblower - The details in your music is next level man. There are soo many little things that are executed really well, and the compounding effect of them gives up epic pieces of music like this. From all aspects (sound design, mix, transitions, arrangement) you really nail it. I love how, while there are a lot of unique independent elements, you balance them well and it doesn't distract from the beat as a whole. That in mind, I think 2 minutes doesn't do this beat justice. It sounds like you can't wait to show us the next section - a longer arrangement letting each section breathe and marinate more could do well to let this beat build on that hypnotic quality it has. Really fucking dope!
@Leopard Cohen - Dreamy, loose, with an unbothered/care-free vibe. That bass tone is fucking juicy! I love how chill and relaxed this is. The shimmery e-piano/bell?? is a nice touch and really adds to the dreamscape quality. Then the vocals kick in and you fall even deeper into the vibe. Love this!
@M.I.ndless - That's how you do an intro! I was listening to some JMT today and this kinda reminds me of Stoupe's beats. Really dope sample, and I can see why you'd get excited with it. I do think you maybe got too excited about it. Sounds like you tried to jam as many cool parts of the source sample into this beat. From the strings, to the big church organs, and the glissandos. It's a lot. That isn't actually a gripe more of an observation - my main critique is the bass. It's a great bass tone, and a really nice bass line BUT I don't think it fits harmonically with everything else, at least not all parts. That bass sounds like it's in a minor blues/pentatonic scale while the rest is in a harmonic minor.
@MalakaBeats - As mentioned early, this isn't my style of hip-hop. That over-blown 808, or 808s as basslines in general don't really do it for me. I do appreciate the fighting game samples! Sound selection suits the genre and I think it all works well together.
@oninkaf - I'm not sure if you remember that period in the late 90s where Pop acts were incorporating alt-pop and electronica and layering serene melodic ambient music over wicked break-beats, but this gives me that vibe. Think Moby - Play. I really love everything about this. It's a mood and half and I could listen to this all day. Musically, this is perfect. It has emotion, flow, and depth to it - just maybe a bit too 'polite' for a battle?
@P.A.T. - Put this on a mixtape with @oninkaf 's beat and I could space all the way out. There's a cinematic quality to this, in addition to, the pensive quality of the vocals and guitar. I can hear a longer arrangement with some emotive, sustained strings and a delicate plucky counter melody. Very nice. I'm also assuming you played guitar? If so, extra musicianship points!
@SJAMBOK BEATS - I have to commend you on work ethic and output. You've been on a crazy productive run! Listening to the intro, I was wondering where this would go. I didn't really care for that square/8-bit synth, but when everything else kicks in, it really fits nicely into the bounce of it all. The wavy synth at 1:06 is really dope. I think the actual melody it's playing could use a bit of fine-tuning. Overall. I really like this style of big bad ass breaks against bold synths. It's a cool sound and you do it well.
@Stan1 - Mixes are getting better! I love the drums on this. the jittery hats, fills, and the slap-back on the snare! The littler open-hat interjections are used well, almost like punctuation markers. Piano chops are gorgeous and fit the overall vibe nicely. I could be wrong, but this sounds completely free-hand - with no quantization. Not that it has to be, but something sounds a bit out of the ordinary. Like there's a beat missing, or an extra beat somewhere. It also sounds like your have some 3 or 5 bar patterns which may factor into that feeling as well. Even still, one of the better joints I've heard from you.

2. this beat is going to win, and it was only the second one I listened to.
It's your style in full effect, and your skills are recognized, but this time it feels like you've done more somehow; you've found a way to be dark. The bass has an almost post-punk sound, and the arpeggio and the sax and horn samples create an absolutely brilliant combination.
Not that it was easy, because there were really a lot of impressive works. It felt like the most quality beat fight I've ever heard; several beats surprised me with their quality (I still haven't matched beats with beatmakers), and while I regret not having enough time to participate, on the other hand, I’m a bit relieved.
