I dunno you know. I've seen it popping up a bit in conversations I've been having with youth and new producers.

Feel there could be like a small undercurrent building momentum.

I dunno. If hip hop was like Breaking Bad, boom bap is walter in the final season. On his way down but still swinging and something to say

I find some were not even close to Boom Bap. Others were too musical. For me, Boom Bap is about 1-2 bar loops, and you know, the BOOM-BAP kick-snare hitting you in your genitalia.

First thing you need to learn when making boom bap is fixing your transients, so the drums smack HARD through in the mix!
And never allow your samples/instruments to sit above the drums. Kick and snare must be the kings of the track and everything else follows their lead!
That is litterally why it's called boom bap. Boom = Kick, Bap = Snare

I wish someone had told me about transients back when i first started out. Took me a long time to find out and it cost me so many horrible mixed tracks just alone because my transients were wack and that made my drums sound weak.
