Sticky Beat This! Theme Suggestions

The thing with some of these themes is let's say it's Acoustic Drums. Well, some might do that and then add other stuff to it so you can't really tell if they're acoustic or not. Some will just ignore the theme. Some will vote for whatever beat regardless of the theme.

I find it's best to be more general with the themes like Rock, Jazzy, Guitar, etc.

I'm sure some of you remember the "No Drums" fiasco from years ago. :woot:

In the past some people would submit a beat without following the theme and I'd email them and they'd either not respond, or would say that it does have guitar in it or whatever. So now I just put the beats in anyway, hoping everyone that votes knows not to vote for the beat that doesn't follow the theme.

It teeters on the “Flip This” realm,

But a sound pack Beat This would be dope. Mad Zach used to post his sound packs in the DJTT forum and people would have a go at it.

Not sure how it could be done here, or if anyone would actually care for that.

Maybe a pack with a simple drum kit, a few different loops (chords, melody, bass) and we just have at it.

I’m on different platforms and they have a similair approach there. The winner uploads a new sample pack, with a set of rules. It’s dope because everyone has the same samples to work with, but maybe more like something as addition to the regular battles here…

Last time I provided a drum loop, with half the beats I couldn't hear the original. We could do some sort of pack or whatever but the issue is some people will always go overboard with morphing and effects so the shit unrecognizable.

Let's do the cello horn!

Yeah, that's the main issue. Not to stifle creativity, but seeing what people can do with limited resources would be cool.

Got to be careful not to make the theme too complicated, participation suffers when the theme is a bit complicated.
I really do like the idea of a sample pack though, more than just "Do something with this drum loop"

It's still tough because what will the sample pack have? Either way I always say that we must be able to hear the original sounds but sometimes it's pretty hard. Also, some voters just vote for the best beat regardless of the theme.

maybe a 4-8 bar loop, or even a 16 with a little change up for variety, with multitracks. On trackilb you can get multitracks but it does cost credits, which costs money.
Failing that you could knock something together, eg drum track, bass track, guitar track, piano track and maybe something else.

I bought a sample pack last night which comes with multitracks, got it from a company called Sample Lab, saw it on Instagram 17TB for $49, cost me about £38 I think, they do cheaper packs too, mine was a bundle. Got a half price discount code for my next purchase too
