connecting a keyboard to the comp?

my friend told me that he connected his keyobard to his computer via the headfones. I brought my keyboard to my basement and when i looked at the hole for the headfones it was biggger than ur usaully fone port thing :confused: . What kind of wire do i need to buy to put in the keyobard? thanks

Aight if you keyboard doesn't have a output anywhere on the back you can connect it through the headphone jack. You will need a 1/4" to 1/8" TRS cable.

You could probally get away with a regular guitar 1/4" to 1/4" with a 1/4" to 1/8" convert on one end. problem with the guitar cable is you will be recording in mono.

make sure you get 1/4" stereo to 1/8" stereo connectors -- that way you won't have to record in mono

thats right just get a special wire that has a head phone jack and a mini head phone jack on the other and connect your keyboard to an in on the pc or the mic and record from the mic or in

you'd probably have to record in as wavs and load them up in fruity as samples
