Delay time

ok ive been using delay as a sort of echo effect forever now. but I alwayz just mess with the delay time till it sounds good. now i figure there must be a formula to find the time that i should set my delay for. for example if my beat is 89 bpm then each eighth note runs for a specific time. so if i set my delay for that specific time then i should get an echo each eighth note. now i guess what i need is a formula that converts from bpm to time (in ms)... any ideas?
