Ya sometimes my watch list gets crowded too. But this one was good because I've always been a fan of Quik since he's always been focused on the engineering side as well.

I love Quik. I have every project he's ever released (except the new ones because they weren't available on cd or vinyl). it's just something great about riding around listening to his production with the snares snapping and chord progression. I love hearing him talk about equipment and production. He's very knowledgeable. I wanted a tape machine but thank God my wife talked me out of it. Tape reels are almost $400 a reel, but you can always buy used. Then there is the maintenance on the machine, the storage of the reels to keep them from degrading, etc.. Quik really cares about his craft, and we need more of that from artists.

Yeah that's the first thing I thought too about the tape reels. It's one thing about the cost, but the maintenance must be a pain. Plus, I wonder how many technicians there are to service those machines versus years ago.
