I was wondering if any1 would like to share some good instrument combinations to use within a beat they know of or have discovered. Some shit just sounds right together. Some i like to use:

- Grand piano / electric jazz guitar / strings / acoustic bass
- Pads / strings / smooth synth / deep synth bass
- Synth leads / brass sections / orchestra hits

It all depends on how and what you use the instruments for.

Here's some tips.

Use something phat for a bassline (well, duh)
Use something broad and phat for the middle range on the spectrum/soundscape like an organ or rhodes or something like that.
And use something light and thinner for the upper high part of the soundscape.
THen the fillins parts. if you wanna use some additional parts and bits and fills in the middle spectrum. Keep em kinda thin so they won't disturb the soundscape.

Bass - Phat
Middle - Phat (Organ, Les Paul & Rickenbacker Guitar, Rhodes, Cello)
High - Thin (Piano, Synth, High violin, Thin guitars like a steelguitar)
Fillups - Thin ((Piano, Synth, High violin, Thin guitars like a steelguitar)

It's all about how and what you fill the room with. Not as much as wich instruments you use. Just be sure to fill the space. There's nothing worse then a beat that feels like a little pea inside of a shoebox.

Just how I see it

Simply put It all depends on the sound your going for.

Dark and Gangster-Piano/Strings/Simple Bass
West coast-Synth/Mid range Piano/ Bass line that leads the way/Stab of strings
East Coast-Mainly piano/hits/Bassline
