As far as I read, his reason for jumping out the closet was that a guy he had been seeing intimately, who he had later placed on his staff, threatened to expose him, if he didn't pay a large sum.

I could understand from the news, he did a good job in office, so it seems a pity (being that good politicians are rare).

yeah that first part is right and the guy was def not qualified to be hired for that position
i think that was a bigger part of the whole scandal , they didnt just throw him out for coming out, well at least they couldnt say that , so they used the guy being in a position hes not supposed to be as their platform
