i know copyright law is different in US and sh1t but i went to a solicitors, and asked them about copyrighting. Apparantly, you cant actually copyright something, you need the "BURDEN OF PROOF" ie, the original wave, your samples etc, yoall know the drill....most files will be dated as well. But, if for example your comp crashes and you lose your BURDEN OF PROOF, tough sh1t, you are screwed, if someone rips you off, it is theirs because they then have the proof.
Also, it is apparantly easier to impose copyright law abroad as artists worldwide are protected by "THE BURN CONVENTION" who endevour to enforce the law.
But there is no point copyrighting unless you have money....because when you go to court, it is money that talks, and the legal fees would cripple most aspiring producers (unless you win obvioulsy, which is possible, but labels/individuals may draw the case out to starve you into submission.
My advice tag it, and be careful, you dont have the money to go to court, we all gotta rely on the honesty of man....
greeeeeeeeaat....
