God!
bubba? timbaland? blueprint? c'mon ya'll! you can't be serious...
i certainly understand that it's all down to personal preference etc', but yo - i just have to STRONGLY disagree with ya'll... none of these albums is even close to being good.
if, at least, you would have mentioned something decent, but give me a break - BUBBA SPARXXX (no comment  )? JIGGA (it's not that blueprint is terrible; it's just not as good as MANY other albums are :clown: )? TIMBALAND (can't understand what everybody finds in his production :nanner: )?

there are so many good and talented producers out there - you can't simply name one artist. open yourself to new productions, new styles, new ideas and new sounds!
most of the names you have mentioned are rather commercial. hence, i can conclude that some of you haven't even listened to 1\5 of what hip-hop (and music in general) has to offer. there is SO MUCH good music out there; you just have to look for it!

sorry for the criticism; just my humble opinion...

One,
Wings

arggh hh

i really got to disagree with you wings.... at least, for myself. i listen to co flow. i listen to everything def jux, really, i loved rawkus, i have heard the anticons and soles and heiro's and a lot of different ish..... i even give the southern dudes a listen (i have to at least know what im abuot to hate on/dislike!) from time to time.... i dont really care for 99% of it....

but still, that production style on blueprint suits me... i think sometimes people get so friggin caught up in being "underground" and obscure to find "talent" but truthfully a lot of this underground material is great material by talented people, but thats not my overall preferance.... bottom line, people like what they like..... i have a pretty well rounded taste in music and i personally loved all but two tracks on the blueprint... i personally loved that deliverance beat... thats good ol' ben (formerly of the roots and now with incubus) on the guitar there..... what is talent and what is good is all a subjective viewpoint, to be honest.... because canibal ox doesnt appeal to me the way, say, nas does. that sound is cool and ilike it, but i would take the blueprint's instrumentals over theirs any day (not every jay z album, but that one in particluar.)

so, im just saying, that just because people like something taht is commercial music, that doesnt mean that they are somehow limitd in their knowledge/understanding/exposure to other music....

respectfully disagreed,

Truth

1. what do sound systems have to do with the debate (cuz i was talkin' about the quality of music rather than the quality of sound)? but anyhow, i have a TECHNICS DSP SOUND PROCESSOR (AMP + PROCESSOR) + WHARFEDALE VALDUS 400 loudspeakers.

2. as i've said, there are so many... but here are some of the my favorites: Blockhead, Blueprint, El-P, Cryptic One, The Opus, RJD2, Mcenroe, Elusive, Boom Bip, Alias, DJ Shadow and the list goes on and on and on and on....

Peace,
Wings

You've crossed the line!

Hey YO, don't hate\criticize on what you can't understand\have no idea about...

you're talkin' like a lil' kid who just doesn't know any better (which is logical, and i do not censure you on that) - sayin' ish is wack... :fire:

the artists on my list, MAKE\PRODUCE\COMPOSE REAL MUSIC, opposed to the inferior music you listen to.

just like vast says on the def jux documentary: MTV DEFINES HIP-HOP. WE'RE NOT EVEN HIP-HOP ANYMORE, YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT?

FUCKING SAD! DIE HIP-POP, DIE!!! :p

its just preference man
i named deliverance because thematically its a whole album
and just because i only named timbaland doesnt mean i dont listen to the guys you named and im always looking to expand my musical horizon
its okay to like mainstream and underground or obscure or whatever you wanna name it
and a lot of mainstream is terrible too
so yeah i heard some of the stuff from the guys you named and it is good and i havent heard all of it yet and i will try to find more

Do you even know what the hell you are talking about, I gotta laugh at you on this one jack, you just heavily criticisized Jay's album, named a bunch of no-names who shall always remain nameless and get mad when somebody judges them, that's a double standard my friend!! MUsic is Music, don't get mad cause somebody has more money or more outlets to get there music played man, my community the community that started this hip hop shit loves Jay, loves nas, hey some love Eminem, the list goes on and on, good music is what's it's all about!! I'm a grown ass man, I don't watch a lot of T.V. period, and listen to the radio sometimes. Unlike some people I've been into hip hop my whole life from the time I was born man, and that's almost when Hip hop first began, I was buying records to spin on my home stereo system, like the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, the original records son, I am hip hop biatches!!!!!

Maybe you don't understand the STRUGGLE, artist you hate on like Beanie Segel, Jay-Z, Dip Set!!! You probably never stood on no block with a bundle or some chronic for that matter (lol)

1. i did not mean that in a direct form; but in a way, he does. all that commercialism of his. it's just nasty and inappropriate. he ain't real as he used to be back in the day. plus, i'm tellin' you that there are much better lyricists than he is.

2. AESOP ROCK is on another level. don't even compare 'em both. aesop is a BRILLIANT poet, with an extremely complex lyricism and style. he's also a good producer in his own right. with all due respect, jay is basic comparing to aesop.

3. i'm a BACKPACKER. i've always been, and always will be. i ain't denying this fact. but you gotta understand - if the music is good, it's good. plain and simple. i ain't hatin' or anything. i'm just being down to earth (YES!).

1. i understand where you're coming from.

2. good luck dealing with all the mad shit in your life...

3. "every thing doesn't have to be MOZART to be good" - yes sure, but in most cases music gotta have at least one layer of complexity.

4. "just give me some drums a couple of samples and I'm coool" - i strongly resist this attitude. everybody, as listeners, must strive towards developing their ears and opening themselves to new dimensions of sound.

5. "You would be a terrible DJ at a party WIngs" - basically yes, but it depends on the setting. if it's a regular party, than yes, sure. i ain't gonna get no booty by playing abstract ish. but if it's a serious thang, with serious open-minded individuals, than i will be a VERY GOOD DJ, cause i have an enormous amount of music to play!

Timberland who you hated on mind you had one of the most complex styles of any so-called hip hop producer!!! He said his Mentor told him to make it a lil more simple so the masses can understand it, that song Missy did "THE RAIN" incredible, he changed the game hands down fucking "Big Pimping" beautiful, you don't know what you are saying my man!!!
