I have an HP notebook pentium 4 3.20GHz 512MB RAM running reason 3 fl4 and cubase LE.

at the mo, (as its a laptop)i use hercules dj cosole as an outboard soundcard ... not ideal I kno.

the latency while monitoring my axe is horrifying and even rewiring reason to cubase sounds hiss and crackle. is it my system?

I was thinking about investing in a m audio fastrak pro. will this reduce latency or is the problem my internal soundcard?

thanx

well, it could be a number of things. First off, ya need more RAM cousin! 512 doesnt seem to cover it anymore. Especially when runnin cubase. But I would also get the M-Audio joint. Other then that, I think that could fix ya problem. Also check the soundcard settings,,that makes all the difference son.

Have you tried adjusting the buffer size on your soundcard? Start with the lowest setting, then work you way up until the keys hit on point. Also you want to try or retry your ASIO setup, make sure that it's not out of sync. If so you may have to play around with the buffer size. Go into the device setup, make sure your midi in/outputs have the same name as your soundcard. You should be able to at least get it setup and going with 512 of ram. You may not be able to pull up a lot of VST's/VSTi's, but it should be in sync. I was working with a pc, 512 of ram, 3.00ghz P4, I just exported the midi tracks to audio. Got tired of that and got more ram. But I had no latency.
