Making your drums less boring

I've been trying to make my drums more interesting and different, but I'm finding it hard to do. You're pretty limited to just finding different samples for the typical kick, snare, and hi-hat and switching up your patterns. What do you guys do to spice up your drums?

I study drummers as well as tracks with interesting drum lines

combine live playing with programming and nudging. you tend to always play the same rhythms when tapping your drums, moving around individual hits can make boring drum loops sound dope

If it fits the rest of the groove then it doesn't necessarily needs to be changed up but I know what you mean. I usually start first with a typical kick-snare-kick-snare then build up from there and see what I come up with. It's true, studying actual drummers helps as well.

I layer my drums to give it a fuller effect, I also will modify from the drum brakes from my vinyl I have
