I am just wondering if anybody can tell me how i can set up both my M-Audio Oxygen 49 midi controller and my MPD16 with Reason 3.0 so that the both work. When the oxygen is working, the midi is not and vice versa. Also, if i use the mpd16 i can get sounds to play out in Reason but they do no record. Any ideas?

You've already gone into 'Advanced Midi' and 'Control Surfaces and Keyboards' in the Preferences menu and enabled all your hardware and set a master controller? After that you can assign each controller to a specific instrument via the A/B/C/D bus select in the Midi In Device window.

If this is all greek to you, then you need to read the Reason manual. It's a very good manual, plenty of pretty graphics too! There's nothing more hip-hop than pretty graphics.

Alrite, i tried to set it up the MPD in reason 3.0. Still no recording. i set my midi keyboard as the master and its assigned to bus A. My MPD is in bus B and i selected channel 1 as my redrum in bus B. As i said, i could trigger the sounds but i couldnt record them. Any ideas?

I set my mpd as a keyboard in preferences under advanced midi. Now it works and records but my keyboard wont let me play and record notes. Please help anybody, this shit is frustrating me!

As stated earlier you need to set your MPD16/24 as your MIDI device under the 'MIDI' preferences. Then under 'Advanced MIDI' you set up your midi controller under one of the buses ie. Bus A, B, C or D.

Once this has been done at the top of the rack you where you see the audio interface select the appropriate bus and which ever device you wish for it to control e.g. Mixer, NNXT, NN19, ReDrum, etc.

Don't forget to check the MIDI icon in the 'IN' field of the redrum instance that you need to record.
