regarding basslines - try looking into buying a used bass guitar...

actualy before tryin to learn to mess with a bass guitar you should learn multi purpose piano(in the form of midi keyboard): you can write your bass line your drums, samples and play some really hot shit on vst instruments.

for the bass just learn some notation ( ill take you 2 days tops ) and grap a couple of books on funk bass. you'll skyrocket

Use the FPC in FL Studio for mapping the pads. Presuming the MPD works the same as my PadKontrol.
