I wouldn't say it's like the east at all... uts actually a blend of east/west/south and then... in canada there is a different sound for Vancouver, Tonronto or Montreal...

I'd compare north to south, where you have different sound depending on the city/state. etc...

Yep as a Canadian I agree.. Van-Citys got a real backpacker feel sampled based shit, where as T.O.'s got that keyboard shit going, Mount Real i don't even know... But hey I ain't a pro at describing music.. What do you other folks think.

we gott a lot of everything because we have so many different cultures from all over the world making one culture. There is definitly a big caribean influence in T.O

My advice for some canadian artists to check out is

Kardinal Offishall (prob. the biggest rapper in Canada)
Choclair ( dude can get mad deep)
Rochester ( i like his flow)
Point Blank (there grimmy)
DocDEMEYEZ (hes S.A.R.S. camp and very good might I say)

loll. nasty north. i sorta thought that some underground tdot was like.. maybe jazz influenced.
u forgot k-os in there. pure jazz vibe. real chilling.
ya cuz im from toronto too. north side of toronto. i duno tho i think canada has no specific style really tho. ye mebe caribbean influence is in rite now. anyone else from toronto?

lol yee man. k-os just chills around the streets alot. saw him once on the subway, once by my school. its jks.

i havent found too many producers around here tho. lookin to find more so we can do some sessions. lol. includes alcohol, producing ish. sometimes rappers. realllll educational i think. anyway im workin on production for this small rap concert in march. lol.. performers r korean, in a korean community thing. but u guys can check it out if u get back in time lol.

Yea I usse to think T.O had its own sound back in the Day with Sakurates and TheGrassroots. But there is many many sounds comin out of T.O we Even got Up North Southern Wannabe's (some funny shit) We got Point Blank , Citizen Kane That come wit that MOBB/Wu-tang Style, we got Kardi on the West Indies Tip K-os On the Mos Def Consious tip and a Bunch of Guys that you probably wouldint really be able to tell if there Canadian or American . Oh ya and my Frenchies Got them Gritty Soundin Beats and Raspy Rhymes too.

^^^^Well, like I said... Canada's rap scene is influenced by all types of music (way more than in the US) So, that's what's particular here... Like one MC can put on 1 album a crunk beat, a reggae/dancehall beat, a grimmy sample based east side beat and a lil Jazzy beat, and it works just fine...
