Sample Clearance

I'm pretty sure I got the general idea of this down. But Im lookin at some commercial business and I wanna make sure my games tight.

So How would I go about Clearing a Sample in the US?
note: i dont have a manager or A and R people, im doin it by myself.

If you aren't selling 10k copies, don't worry about it...

Also, trying to clear the sample yourself, you have no leverage and will get raped...literally

I'd advise going thru someone w/ leverage... a high-power ent. lawyer, a label... someone w/ some relationships, cuz that could mean the difference between the artist taking 80% of your publishing and the artist taking 35%... I've seen it happen..

the producer is not usually responsible for sample clearance, whatever artist's you're working with their label is supposed to handle that if they are gonna be releasing it
