is there any way to get rid of that annoying scratching and hissing sound on playback with fl studio? is it because my soundcard sucks?

dell laptop, fl studio 8 producer edition, axiom 61 through usb, and some pretty good 2.1 speakers (not that great for referencing though), i know its not any of those things (except fruity loops) because every computer that i used fl on does that, its usually fine when im putting chopped up samples on, usually only does it when im using soundfonts, plug-ins (especially the compressor), i know its not my processor speed because its a core 2 duo, and im on 2gb of ram, and if i save the project as an mp3 or wav, its a lot more clear and doesn't have that hissing bullshit, so im guessing it has to be fl studio...

i have a realtech soundcard but after switching to ASIO in the audio settings(not sure what this actually does) it got rid of all my hissing.

i've only got 256mg of ram and i've got FL8 running pretty smoothly
