select generator plugin?????

In this plugin/generator list (in the middle of my screen in the screen shot...click the link below)...what does clicking the little boxes on the left and putting an "F" in them do? what's the difference between th ebox having and "F" and not having it?

F stands for favorites, you click it and it becomes displayed from the pulldown menu on plugins from the mixer (fx slots 1-8).
