Those were some cool links....I saw a special on PBS about Parliment and how the band came together. Bootsy said something to the effect that they were the ones who popularized the technique of dropping the beat on the first beat of a bar coining the phrase "Drop It On The One". So when you listen to a lot of theor music, you can hear how the beats really crack on the beginning of the bar. I guess Bootsy brought that concept over from when he played with James Brown, who used it occasionally.
