The bad beat thread, if you play poker.

I had a pretty bad beat a few weeks ago.

I have jack deuce, flop comes deuce deuce jack. I flop a full house. some dude raises like 30, I call, so does someone else, everyone else folded, it's 3 handed. I'm putting the first guy on a pocket pair, and thinking the other dude has a deuce. Turn comes and it's a queen, the MOTHAFUCKa that I think has the deuce bets 40, other guy folds, I push all in for 80, he calls. River comes like a 7 or some bullshit. I turn my hand over with a full house ( J J 2 2 2 ). The bastard flips his hand over, it is QUEEN DEUCE! ( Q Q 2 2 2 ) .... fuckin A

Board: 2 2 J Q 7.... I think it was a 7

Anybody got some bad beats at the casino?

You know how many times i get lucky with pocket aces.

I play with the koreans, too young for most casinos.

But nah once i was that MOTHAFUCKA, raising while everyone thought i was bluffing, pulled out a 4 of a kind and killed someone with a straight, it was a two person hand at that point

lol bastard..... that's poker. Pulling quads is a good feeling, you automatically know your gonna win lol, it's best when you hit quads and someone has a full house

thats not a bad beat but rather a "serves you right for slow play" ^^
dude, if i learned one thing it's do not slow play hands. you can do that with people you know well.
eight out of ten times you get punished and nuts on flop turn into a big dick in your ass on the river.
just my humble opinion

That's what I get for slowplaying? dude I think anyone who plays poker would think I played that very well. I know thats your opinion but ima just break down my thinking right here.

I will never raise preflop with jack deuce, I don't think anyone would (especially at a 9 handed table). it's not like I checked it down or anything, I was happy when I got hit with the 30 dollar bet (I would have bet anyway if it got checked to me or a smaller bet but it's good if someone else is giving you money when you got the nuts), if you hit full house on the flop, you are of course gonna want everyone else to see the turn and river cuz they can catch something thinking they won and pay you off more and chances are you WILL win that hand with a full. In this case there were only 3 hands that could save him before turn and river which would be q2 k2 or a2, in which he would have to also catch a Q K or A on the turn or river. Those are great odds. I wasnt in front position to make a raise for anyone else, I was hit with the raise and when I got raised on the turn I pushed all in which would be the right thing to do with those odds. He just happened to catch the right cards and thats poker lol

just my experience. you hit nuts on the flop, you get raised, you dont call. you re-raise.
playing with homies, thats a different thing, you might wanna do that to be the prankster in the end.
but slow play is always gambling.

if you hit full house on the flop, you are of course gonna want everyone else to see the turn

yeah, but not for free, it has to hurt them, cause youre always protecting your hand.

i was playing poker just for fun the other night (which is the lamest way to play).

SO i didnt want to play anymore and I went all in. at the first flop all i had was a pair of deuces. second flop gave me a pair of deuce and a pair of seven. 2 other people went all in and each had shitty hands.

this happened 3 times before i finally divied up my chips between the people I had mercilessly robbed and left.

at the casino I play at, the maximum buy in is 100$ (yea bs), so a 30 dollar bet is a sizable bet, I didn't want anyone to get scared and get out of there if I raised 60. If I reraised 60 and everyone folded I wouldve got away with only 30 from one player, 30 from the other, and blinds, instead of if they caught something from the turn and river and thought they had the best hand willing to give me more money. You have to protect your hand but you also have to milk it. If the max buy-in was like 200 then a 60$ reraise would be more casual and I definately would have did it. Keeping in mind I was a hugggeee favorite before the turn eventhough the other dude had queen deuce, a queen was the only card that could have saved him

I thought you played the hand, well...the chances the other player had a queen deuce were very very very slim...and you played your odds...which is what most pros do....

You slow play when you think you have the best hand on the table......that's just bad luck... You slow play so you can bait the people into putting up their money...You go all in quick...and they all fold....

I was working on a royal flush...and I slowed played it..got some people to throw their money in......and got the flush on the river...I crushed that table.......I had a dude raise me on the river...then I hit him with the reraise which put him all in..by then I had already baited people up to the turn....but they had folded after the dude did the first raise on the river. In poker, every little bit helps...even if they fold...you probably baited someone to throw some money in the pot.....

But you have to mix up your slow plays with more aggressive plays and bluffs to keep the other players from catching on....
