I'm not sure if I posted this or not, but this video is great. He makes a lot of valid points, and when you look at it from the perspective as a beatmaker/producer, it makes a lot more sense.

When he mentions compression and loudness, it's what I've been saying for a long time. The key point is that the music doesn't have much dynamic range like it used to, in the sense that it's less and less natural-sounding. Compression is a tool like anything else, not some magic that is supposed to make everything loud and in your face.

The other stuff too about record labels just moulding someone into a top artist with a top song is great too. Check it out:

@Fade record labels have always molded artists so that shouldn't be surprising as they exist to amass and exploit catalogs of people's works but lack of dynamics in modern music is why hearing loss will always be problematic.
