What is wavelab? I ve heard its good for editing/mastering and such. is there anthing wavelab can do that cubase can't? Would it be wise to buy wavelab if i already use cubase? ive heard u can master pretty well in wavelab..is this true? any feedback would be nice...Vitaminman pleeaase!!

Hey,

Wavelab=Sound Forge=Cool Edit=Samplitude.

They're all wave editors.

One could argue for days about how one program has this while the other one doesn't....all you need to know is that it is a wave editor, you use it to do some pretty detailed sample-level editing of sounds.

Wavelab used to be amazing when you could run it from within Cubase VST, but now that SX has 'better' wave editing capabilities, they don't allow you to open up external wave editors any more.

You can master just as easily in Cubase now that there are racks which you can load effects into, they all work in real-time. As for detailed sample-level editing, you can do it in SX, but it's not as intuitive and quick as it is in Wavelab (or any other wave editor)

it also has great mastering features for cd-mastering
and burning!
it also can communicate with different kind of samplers...
and important: very easy to use!

I like the little features like "peak leveler & stereo wide" it's cool but I like Sound Forge best.

I use Sound Forge myself but Wavelab is just as good, it has some advantages and disadvantages over SF. What I like about SF is you can edit your sounds up to 64bits 192hz, I think Wavelab only goes up to 32bits which is still good. Wavelab seems a little more technical minded you have graphs to analyze you sounds make edits easy and compare you eq with one sound to another along with many other features. I wouldn't do much sound editing inside of a sequencer except for finishing touches at mixdown, the beginning I like to throw it in the wave editor of choice and perfect it as much as I possibly can.

Hey,

Pardon me for saying this....but 64 bit audio? I see on the SF site that it does 64 bits, but for what application? I don't know of any cards or plugins that do 64 bit! Please enlighten us...
