Musicians not wanting to use a metronome during recording. Do not back down on this. So if you have a musician about to record audio for a guitar and it's not Hendrix risen from the dead, they need to use a metronome!
Nothing will promote you better than your work. Giving a project to a musician to record to that's not in time will not only be frustrating for everyone, but makes you look unprofessional.
Don't forget, you are responsible for the way the project sounds.

^^ I actually don't agree with this. Some really great music has been made where the tempo fluctuates. Especially acoustic singer songwriter stuff
I agree, if its a multi track recording. But if you record guitar without a click track, then hand that to a drummer during a different session, there could be a problem. With home recording, not only do you not have space to multi track more than a few instruments, but you're going to get artists of all different skill sets.
