whats your favorite mix

just wondering what peoples favorite mixes are in hip hop, i'm not talking about a dj mix but a mix as in how a song was mixed down. what is it about the mix that u like?

as far as whole albums, i've always loved dj quik's ear, especially on

as far as grimy and dirty schitt this was pretty incredible when it came out

I always liked the mix on Check the Rhime, it's not something I would necessarily emulate or copy, however I love the dyanimcs on that track.

Chronic 2000 changed the game as far as sonically. as far as gritty feelin i might have to agree wit manguino on that Return to the 36 chambers.

I just want to add one thing. Even though automation is now the norm wtih pro tools, a lot of the predigital mixdowns like Public Enemy, Beastie Boys and Stetsasonic are as good (and definitely more interesting to the ears IMO) then a lot of the new mixes done today.
Those joints were done with four or five people lined up across the board from left to right, all turning knobs and moving sliders up and down simultaneously, live mixdowns. You can hear and feel that extra live excitement in the mix IMO.
