Ok production heads....I will put myself out there to see what you guys think on the current state of hip-hop music and where it will be going in the next few months....

I've been upset. Mad. Hurt. With all the crap thats out there now. The industry is in a craze right now - the creation of the "1 single" album is still up despite the obvious lack of support by fans in buying these albums. I miss THE ALBUM. Where dudes would actually make 12 cuts on there and CARE. I miss getting the album where cuts never make it to a single but you can always tell a true head when you hear dudes reciting them deep B sides because the WHOLE album was money.

Remember the days when you busted out "When it comes to sex...I'm similar to the thrilla in manilla." to some chick..... Some ignorant dudes would laugh that were just radio heads but you would always find dudes that can complete that line of songs that never made it to radio.....where did those days go? I know the answer to this is commercialism but it seems to me that commercialism is about to lap creativity and quality severly this time around.

Now I fast forward to today....bust the latest Kanye single.....and realize....his stuff is actually hot. In being true to self (for what is the point of faking it these days) I realize I get that old feeling back when he comes on the radio....automatically different from everyone else....I can't wait till this dude come out....I could realy care less about 50 or Nelly this year......i can already hear about what I got and f*ckin this hoe.....I'm tired of all the BS raps.....rapping about nothing to me. We loved hip hip because it was something new, deep and we were seeing things through the eyes of greats. We were once entertained by so many different coasts because not only was it new but it was interesting to see the many perspectives. Yeah I've gotten older, got a kid now........and I became less and less interested.....but I cannot hate on what Kanye is trying to get out.....I can care less about him being conceited and all this but dang.....I have to give it up.....the quality of the mans work comes out in every song. Forget coming out with raps off the dome if you are saying the same thing over and over...the man is taking his time to write some good stuff and then, from what I can see, makes the track a killa. Where else do we see this level of all around quality in dudes that have made it - the ones that the world hears?

If there is any other purpose to writing this it would have to be this: Hip hop is so watered down now....substance is the key. Without substance, we would stay boring.....which is why we are.....and Country and Pop is ahead of our genre once again. We are digressing.

What do you guys think?

I am not going to lie... I think Kanye is horrible. Sorry I can't agree at all. His beats are pretty decent, and I will admit he has helped pioneer a certain style of hip hop but I still think he is an ignorant human being and that his rhymes are weak.

Let me rephrase this better.. he is good, but he is not the savior of hip hop that everyone makes him out to be. There are many other producers and emcees who I think are way better. Not to mention Kanye does have ghost producers, and not to mention he takes credit for there work.

Like everyone knows he didn't produce that Jesus Walks joint so how come he gets credit for it?

objektivone, you don't know what a producer really is. Kanye definitely oversee's his whole project and produces it. I've worked with him on several occasions and yes he's got help, but it's his vision, and he oversees every minor detail.

I've heard about half of the new album just from working with him, and all I can tell you is, its incredible. He's got a whole new vibe, at least from the records I've heard. But its definitely new sounding, definitely a breath of fresh air, and definitely something I'm looking forward to.

Watch out for the next single featuring T Pain. It samples Michael Jacksons PYT, but is replayed. If you like Stronger, the new single, you will LOVE this...And if you dont like Stronger, you will still love this. And remember who told you first ;)

i agree .. kanye seems like one of the few major artists that actually gives a shit what their ALBUM sounds like ... everybody knowadays is just chasing singles and tryin to get the most ringtone downloads lol. I havent been impressed by any major release this year and honestly i think its been a horrible year so far for rap music in general as far as major labels are concerned. NOTHING is hot or innovative right now imo.. stronger is hot and diffrent and kanye, love him or hate him, takes care in the material that he puts out and at least tries to be original which is more than i can say for anybody else whose album dropped this year.

Honestly I think real hiphop lives in the underground on the net.
I would be more likely to purchase Buku, Stress, the Samsh Bros, or someone off this site than I would whats on the radio...

But thats prolly additionally due to the fact that my local station(singular) has a monopoly on the market and plays whatever the clear channel gods tell them to no exceptions .

Kanye? He's cool with me..Hiphop still aint the same though..

I think that there is so much crap out right now and the level & qualitity of music is so low that it makes kanye's stuff stand out more then it really should...He is good, but he aint THAT good.... & he defo aint the savior of hip hop.. he just has really good timing and a good sense of whats going on,, you cant knock a man for that...

Why do you guys think hiphop went to shit..
I wass listenin to that funkmaster flex mix lately and I mean daaaamn, it has reeaaly fallen off.
Why do you think? I mean it aint for lack of talent, there are some very talented unheard of people.

I will never say hip hop has went to shit... but there is no balance anymore...ya there are some underground cats doing there thing but most people dont know about that...

There was a time from 95-99 you could turn on the radio and here wu-tang, outkast, master p, nas, jay-z and cash money, all within an hour....

Now adays its just the same shit over and over....no variety in the mainstream.. so yea in that sense its went to shit...

I don't pay attention to the mainstream or the understream. I follow good music period.... and there is a lot of good Hip Hop music being made beneath the surface.

MTV and BET make it seem like there's Kanye West and Atlanta...and that's the only people making Hip Hop music.

Viacom buying BET killed any balanced representation of Hip Hop (remember the Little Brother video dillema? Happened right after Viacom got BET).

In the mainstream all you'll see is corporate america's ignorant perception of what hip hop is.

With that said. UGHH.com is a savior.

I also find it odd that a majority of Hip Hop music invovles a rapper repeatedly talking about what it's like to live like a multi-platinum thugged out rapper.

Who can relate to that lifestyle?

Kanye West- Drive Slow... who can't relate to a song like that?

Hahahah I am glad you think I don't know what a real producer is. Give me a break. So I don't think he is the savior of hip hop. Don't insult me because I have a different insight on it.
Because if you want to just insult each other I can go all day long. Sorry I am not all on Kanye's nuts.
