Ideas for improving ILLMUZIK

@Memento Beats Yes. We did that years ago with out annual battle, the Battle That and it was $10 to enter, if I remember correctly. It was good but there were still a handful that complained they had to pay.

I think it was $10 x 16 contestants, so $160. I took a cut and the winner got $100 or $120.

It's a great incentive but it's one of those things to get people interested. Whenever I think of things like this I have to always step back and think of how to get people involved first. We get lots of traffic but not everyone participates in battles and discussions, so that's the first issue. But above all that, I remember I stopped it after the second year because PayPal came out with some stupid rule where you can do something like that. They closed my account temporarily until I promised not to do it again lol.

They literally said they would check illmuzik to make sure we don't have a paid contest. So today one of the ways around it would be to have a sort of subscription, which is fine. It would depend on how it's worded I guess.
we can send each other money or we can get money from other people. I vote for the latter. lets show people how to get money. many know most dont know,

This has been an issue for many years now, I personally think its a sign of the times and hip hops place in the entertainment sphere.
The reality is, hip hop just isnt as popular as it used to be. Social media has changed the way people communicate and entertain themselves. The world just isnt the same world it was 20 years ago. I dont think there is a damn thing any of us can do about it. We can try to be innovative in how we sell ourselves, but economics 101, supply and demand. Too much supply, not enough demand.

We used to have a good selection of night clubs playing hip hop & rnb, we used to have Yo! MTV Raps, we used to have Tim Westwood, Dj 279, Dj's used to play us the best new music. All that has changed. Hip hop no longer has that support network, things have moved on.

From what Ive seen on ill recently, the thing keeping it going is the battles. There is still healthy participation in the battles, a shame that participation doesnt extend across the rest of ill.
be the support system, be the guy that says I like biggie and pac and epmd if you like those guys youll probably like this new guy outta sacramento. submission sent in by ,miss so an so shout out to you ok heres the new joint from sacramento rapper. by just being consistent and doing it weekly or daily but regularly people will come to depend on you especially if they have similar music tastes. thats a destination. people who dont battle will show up to check the report, new artists will start to follow and who follows him will follow too. at least I think it would be like that...seeing a void is a treasure cause now you know what shape is missing. and SM is nothing but a blessing. it puts you on equal or better footing than rolling stone or the source or whatever in many cases. rap is stifling itself but hip hop is still growing stronger, rap only needs it s guides to step forward and eliminate the selection paralysis happening right now.

Interviews via a stream with professionals in the industry giving production, mixing and marketing advice for up and comers to be successful in one of the most competitive industries in entertainment. The channels that offer music making advice on youtube seem to be very popular, if you get professionals involved whose names you can have in the titles of the videos, it will bring in lots of views. And grow ill on youtube and ultimately here too.

One point I will mention, is that with growth comes unwanted change. The tightness of the community and friendly vibe will change, some of the things that make this place so great will be affected. An inlfux of noobies to music production will really change the dynamic, whether wanted or not.

It would introduce a lot of fragile egos that need to mature, its a double edged sword and good to go into things knowing what the pitfalls could be beforehand.

We all want ill to grow, Im sure none more so than Fade. But with growth comes unwanted change that I learned on a meme forum, with growth came a lot of snowflakes that couldnt handle dark humour, it really changed the dynamic until it just wasnt the same anymore.
give them a playpen with all the goodies we entice them with and as they mature and develop into clear assets we invite them out of the feeder group into the main ill.

i really really hope that boom bap hip hop has a resurgence, Id like to see the real diversity come back that rap used to have. Hip hop is due revisiting its roots for a modern audience, its just a matter of time IMO, and I would love to be a part of it.

too much talent here picture organizing something like match/monster/umg where beatmakers select emcees amd singers to work with from a pool of talent. this puts the responsibility of monetization in the hands of the beatmakers who know more about that shit on avg anyfknway. beatmakers can sit behind a curtain like hidden judges who discuss the prospects behind the scenes. some can be assigned different roles due to strengths and experience, start small for nothing until the systems gears lock into place etc etc, stop me when I've gone too far
