Voting

If you are competing, you will be able to vote but not for yourself. DO NOT TRY TO CHEAT! I will be watching for cheaters. This means you cannot sign up under different names or get your friends and family to sign up either. If you are caught cheating you could be banned.

Voting Criteria

You can use whatever sounds you want, samples, synths, just remember to read the rules for the rest of the restrictions. What the judges will be looking for is originality, creativity, mixing skills and overall dopeness!

Beats

All the beats will now be displayed in a random order and without any names. All you will see is: Beat #001, Beat #002, etc. This is so that there is no favoritism when voting.

Rules

If you're not sure about the rules, read this thread.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions about the competition, please post them in here.

@Armani - this one was obviously yours to me. I saw this more as a 'strings' piece than piano. Quite cool, reminds me of an existing record, i dunno which - did you interpolate? What did you use for the strings sound. (you know which strings i mean)

@P.A.T. - this one was obviously yours to me, too. Pianos is nice, music is alright, arrangement develops lots. The drums sound like low quality mp3, this always bugs me a bit, they sound a bit hollow like they're phase cancelled or some other odd technical shit.

@Mike Chief - nice beat, I think I voted for this. Whilst i'd like more piano elements, i felt this record emotionally was the most complete and tied together, musically and with the mix, too. Good work

@crog85 - what happened with your drums? They sound a bit cramped, different kick might have completely transformed this record

@Wax Camp - nice piano tone, is that a sample? This record could have been really cool if you got the drum mix right --- they need to come up a lot in volume, be more forward in the mix, this would be tuff af if you got the drums right. Would have had my vote and added to a playlist probably. How did you make your drums? they sample, programmed, played or what? Welcome to your first battle!!! Look forward to seeing you in more. Great stuff for jumping in

---

@allagory - really nice piano, did you play this yourself or is it a loop/sample? Possibly my fave piano I heard in this battle. Drums/drummix could do with some work. Especially on a minimal piece like this, you really gotta make the mix balance do some incredible work

@DEVBE - this was actually my favorite beat in this battle, gimme your trackouts I want to mix this. This could be one of those dope Tyga type tracks with the right mix

@DJ Excellence - very oldschool vibes, are your drums break loops? Also, dunno wher you find this endless supply of same sounding jazz samples to keep your vibe the same always. I like my drums heavier, would get my vote with more richness to them

@Dodgy John - nice effort, where did the vox come from? the piano staccato gave me sonic vibes for some reason

@Iron Keys - a fan, liked the textures and chords. Drum roll was tuff too. Keep up the good work

@Producingfire - musically quite interesting and nice, i think some mix and production choices here, particularly in the drums and the bass could have made this incredibly epic - the piano that comes in after a minute is too loud and needs to come down in level, and/or least have a significant cut in the upper mids as there's some unpleasant resonances in it

@V.J. Retro cool sample on the piano, something about the panning/mix jarred me a bit with this one that took away from what was otherwise pretty cool

Good work everyone

not really. maybe eminem inspirations? not sure. strings are session strings 2 violins semi trill. you use it a lot too. unless you mean the triton one in which case I forgor lmao.

I actually learned that trick from your beats. idk when but I'm sure that's exactly how you've used SS2 before. sounds dope.
