    Best headphones for mixing?

I got HoRNet VHS on sale for $1 recently. It's not perfect but it has helped to identify some mix issues and has reduced the rounds of tweaks I need to make after listening on other set ups. I'll see how it compares to dearVR on my next beat.

    I did the unthinkable...

So I cheated a bit and title is a little misleading because it gets clicks, but the main sample is actually from a Frank Sinatra AI cover of Thriller, based on the Postmodern Jukebox jazz cover of thriller. But the OG thriller was sampled for the bridge. And thanks for the listen. Sounds like...

    Memphis (Horrorcore?) Beat

I believe in two things when it comes to beatmaking: -there are no rules -perfection is the enemy of progress I think what you should do is take what you learned making this one, launch your DAW, go to your favorite drum kit, load whatever sound or plugin you want to work with, and make another...

new beat & some bars... Hot/Not?

I think it's a fun and catchy, has a good vibe. Few things that come to mind while listening: -chorus felt a little long to me, maybe because it's repetitive. It's good, but I wonder if it would benefit by being cut down and/or shorten the main hook and implement a longer bridge. -the...

This sounds great. Snare and hats are crispy and awesome.

    Remember The Rain

Sounds great. I'm listening on my phone so won't be able to comment on mix, but everything sounds clean and well structured. The only thing that comes to mind is maybe some swing in the drums. Solid work.

    Memphis (Horrorcore?) Beat

The hat and clap pattern is catchy. I don't mind the swing in the piano, but I think having such a difference in the drum/piano rhythm would make it tough for a vocalist, so I think drilling down to one main rhythm may help it flow better. I also think it needs better quality sounds in general...

    I did the unthinkable...

Yo Yo. The Dust Buster here. I sense some animosity brewing in this thread. I have an idea: let's all smoke weed and make beats. I'll start.

Right. I try to look at my DAW like it's a piece of hardware that can't connect to the outside world. Obviously a quick search here or there if I'm in fine-tune mode, but otherwise I try to close everything out. It's like my nightly therapy. I've been making ~4-5 beats a week with that approach...

    Some 8 bit vibes...

Really like the scratch effect, adds a nice element. The shift from the guitar to synth was smooth, and I like how the 8-bit vibes evolved throughout the track. Solid work here. Maybe the melody is a tad loud and the drums could be a bit louder, but that may just be personal preference. Great...

At what point does sampling feel like stealing ?

So I did cheat a little and the main sample I used for the melody is actually a bit from a Frank Sinatra AI cover of Thriller, which was based on the Postmodern Jukebox cover of Thriller, so I'm a couple covers away from the original. So I'm not sure if it technically is a true Thriller flip...

At what point does sampling feel like stealing ?

Alright fellas, as promised. Had to break the rules and sample one of the best songs ever made. Happy Halloween. Here's my Thriller flip:

    Best headphones for mixing?

Not a bad price if they're all they're cracked up to be. Might have to consider down the road. I need to get an actual full size midi keyboard first haha. I just realized my Sennheiser HD400 Pro headphones came with a trial of dearVR Mix. Going to try that tonight while wrapping up this beat...

    The illest beat selling links

This is a topic that I've been thinking about too. I'm still working on building out a solid portfolio, so I've just been posting to YT for now, but my thought is I probably have to go everywhere and still need to figure out the best mass upload option/tool.

Audio visualizer software or website for dope beat videos?

Does it work well? I've been wondering what's the best one click mass upload tool to use.
