    To all ya'll non-hardware users!

I'm also gonna cosign on that notion. Initially, I was more comfortable on hardware 'cause the first beats I had ever done were on my old Alesis HR16-B. The moment I hooked it up to my Atari 520ST and fired up the little 8-trak sequencer I had for it, shit changed permanantly. Being able to edit...

    Question on selling beats?????

Honestly, you need to pound the pavement a bit and make local contacts. Take beat CD's with you EVERYWHERE you go. You never know where you're going to run into a potential client. I've run ito cats on a late night run to Walmart, dropping kids off at daycare, and just recently on the bus to...

    Dr. Rhythm

    I had a DR550mkII and DR660 once upon a time... (edit) I also had a Dr Synth DR330 for a while.

Rewiring to other applications (Recording Vocals etc)

The way I've used FL with Cubase is by using it as a multi-out VSTi. Kinda the same as rewiring it, but you don't always have to have the FL GUI running.

    To all ya'll non-hardware users!

That's one of the reasons I dumped my old hardware setup. Speed. I do miss my old gear, but I DON'T miss the sheer amount of space it took up in my house or the amount of pain I went through moving all of that shit.

konceptG sayin' "whaddup" from the land of the hot

Aiight... I've dropped in on a few posts so it's time to give an official "Whaddup doe" to y'all. I'm konceptG (known also as logic7, poppageorge, and subject28) chillin here in Phoenix, but I'm from Detroit, so I rep Tha D most of the time. I started making beats on an Atari 520ST and Alesis...

    For the DJs!!

Best believe, I've carried many a crate of records in my time. I've been a rave DJ (detroit techno, electro, and ghettotech) for the last 8 years or so lugging around two overloaded travel cases, record bag and a crate or two during that time (I won't go into what I carried around back when I...

    For the DJs!!

I'm still rockin my Gemini PS626mkII that I copped back in '99. Still works, have yet to replace the x-fader (did have to hit it with cleaner once tho). Honestly, a lot of these new mixers bore me. Lotsa bells and whistles and all, but how do they hold up over time? I got the 626 'cause...

    Slept on equipment

Roland S550 sampler -12bit sampler with a composite monitor output and waveform editing. Roland S330 sampler - same as above, 1U rack size, extremely limited memory, only for those that use little shit in big ways. Yamaha Tx16W - old Yamaha Sampler, hard as fuck to use unless you install...

    G3

A fast G3 is enough to use Cubase and more than two plugins. I run a P3-850 w/768MB RAM and I can load up more than a few plugins in SX2. I JUST switched to SX2 recently from VST32-5.1R2. Granted, I could run far more plugins in 5.1 than SX2, but SX2's new features allow me to free up clock...

    Sticky Show Your Setup!

$500??? Shit, you doin it big compared to me. I have a $39 mini controller that I picked up on Ebay (old ass Cybersound board w/37 mini keys). All I needed was keys. Fuck a pitchbend and mod wheel. I got it last night and I can't wait to play with it. Granted... I DO have FL Studio...

    why hiphop changed?

And that's exactly what I'm getting at. I'm not trying to give it an "us vs them" slant to it, I just wish that intelligent music in general would get a chance to shine. We used to hear it on the radio, we used to see the videos but we don't anymore. It's time for the scale to tip back to center...

    why hiphop changed?

Honestly, I DON'T think that "gangsta rap" was the turning point to what we have today. Fr a while during the late 80's and early to mid 90's hip hop coexisted with itself. Cats was open to all forms of hip hop. You could be playing Warren G one minute and Mobb Deep the next. What happened is...

    why hiphop changed?

hip hop (on the radio anyways) changed because of record labels desire to sell more records to larger audiences. They found that the more gutter or ignorant the subject matter, the more the pop buying audience will like it. The pop audience listens to the lowest forms of any music. The are...

    Really...Dipset = The Biggest Samples/Beats Wasters in Hip-Hop

Dipset = 200x's version of Junior Mafia. A lot of talentless cat's that hang with one dude with talent so it appears that they have talent. Not that I really think Cam IS talented. He wastes the talent he has on ig'nant bullshit rhymes and posturing.

So I'm in guitar center yesterday....

A few years back I went to GC and MRAS out in Southfield, MI to audition some monitors. I always take a CD of freshly mixed down tracks with me to listen so I have a reference on how shit should sound. I get to MARS's and their room was partially down, so I listened to some M1 actives and some...

For comic book fans and anime heads,,,,

The only way I'mma like this is if Marvel treats it the same way DC did Justice League Unlimited. Shit is gritty as hell (Lex Luthor just killed Grod with a bullet to the chest two weeks ago, all of it shown on TV), the storylines are damned good, and it's nothing like the old SuperFirends. If...
