The reality of takes and comping

Mad, I've watched vinyl being cut in a mastering studio. Pretty crazy, seems like some proper antiquated process and machinery. Heat levels and all sorts.

Punching in / out always terrifies me. Like the timing would have to be perfect too.

The reality of takes and comping

I know Dr Dre apparently has people repeating individual words like 70 times until it's perfect

Here's a (in a very loose sense of the word) pirate theme I'm working on. Looking for feedback.

i would just keep that part that i mentioned as the main/whole type of song. Then I think it just needs some high frequency stuff, like hats or other kinda cymbals to fill it out. that and a vocal and it's probably done. at most some little cute melody or hook sound everyy now and then

Dr. Dre - Gospel (with Eminem) - Remix by Memento Beats

pretty cool stuff. I feel like on the boopy pluck sound, I would personally have a bit more verb on it, feel like it's not gluing with the rest of the mix how I'd like it to. rest of it is cool tho has a vibe. Good to see you making music, brother. <3

I really loved the way it sounded before all the sounds came in. I like it in its percussive state, it was really strong. It felt like it was missing a little something, but that part was the strongest.

If you're aiming to have a record that hits at it's absolute best. Don't be afraid to just chop the good parts, and good parts.

I guess it's time to officially introduce myself...

y'know what's crazy, when I was reading his intro earlier, I was thinking 'well that's good, given Fade some instructions on how to pronounce it' however, if I hear you pronounce it as instructed and hadn't seen this, I'd have thought you fucked it. Phenri looks like Henry to me...

Violince (I did some serious rework to my last Beat This! submission and I'd like some feedback)

just compatibility things. Sometimes with upgrades some plugins stop working. And if that's the case, you'll be stuck or forced to upgrade your waves plugin as they don't suppor ttheir old ones i don't think. Or don't upgrade your daw. etc

Violince (I did some serious rework to my last Beat This! submission and I'd like some feedback)

It's more than that though --- say you update your DAW, waves will generally only make updates for the newest version of DAWs. So you run the risk sometimes of if you update your DAW, your waves plugin is no longer supported unless you pay the upgrade fee.

Getting quality plugins for free is great! But only if you actually make use of them.

Violince (I did some serious rework to my last Beat This! submission and I'd like some feedback)

So I only have two issues making me hesitate about getting it - they're old plugins: i think these were initially released in the 90s!!! I know we like vintage gear etc, but with software that sort of rule is usually the opppsite; HOWEVER, this series of plugs is highly rated and still used by...

    Beat This! Competition - December 14-15, 2022

I found this an interesting beat. The sample was interesting/cute. It makes me think of kids dancing all goofy. Couldn't quite tell if it made me think of christmas or kids parties (minus sleighbells), also the beat was very like happy/upbeat, but the chorus sounded like some devil claus stuff...

    Beat This! Competition - December 14-15, 2022

Beat is a vibe, really like the sample choice. On the day I wasn't feeling the rhythm/swing. Today I feeling it a lot more than I was. The synth work was interesting. Arrangement was nice. Maybe it was lacking some of the more overt 'christmassy' feel that some of the others possessed. There' s...
