    Yeah thats true, but for an authentic 808 it should tail off. The ones in FLEX are straight constant all the way with no tail, unless you turn the sustain down and the release up. There are no rules, just guidelines, and if the end result is hot its hot, doesnt matter how you got there.

    the best use for legato Ive come across personally is with bass lines, instead of having every note of the bass have a strong attack, legato takes away the attack of the overlapped notes(overlapping notes creates legato in some plugins), so that the bass is a lot smoother.

    Or you could start with an old original Roland TR-808 bass and process that. Or synthesise one with quick attack and long release. The term 808 doesnt just mean 808's anymore, it describes a style of bass line really.
