    The quickest way to learn how melodies are put together is by copying others. Check out some midi files. Imitation can be a great learning tool sometimes, just taking a small sample and trying to recreate it is good practice in layering melodies and counter melodies that play off of each other...

    Exactly, sampled beats can only be given away on mixtapes and sold to rappers on the understanding that they need to clear the samples. Which makes the beats cheap, its hard to sell beats alone as it is let alone make a living selling cheap sampled beats, its just not financially viable IMO...

    Same, really happy with the beat I made, these battles really make you try hard, which makes improvement much quicker. Its a bit like how humans invent so much in times of war. Maybe people are just best suited to conflict hahaha?

    first beat sounds like it could be in the rock beat this, nice beat. second beat is far too happy sounding for my taste, you dont become a miserable old git like me by appreciating happy music. Has more of a pop/rnb vybe IMO. Decent beat but happy just doesnt do it for me in a battle. Sorry...
