MPC Instruments now available as VSTs

Just got an email from AIR telling me the instruments in the MPC have now been released as stand-alone VSTs. Kinda handy for people like me who move between MPC and Ableton. Apologies if this is old news. https://www.airmusictech.com/virtual-instruments.html

    The Batman

Unfortunately, now that directors don't need to worry about the cost of film anymore movies are undoubtably going to get longer. I'd be happy as long as they bring back the intermissions half way through!

    The Batman

    Very true.

    Drum machines like the Volca

Interesting. I don’t have great eyesight so I try to avoid computers if I can. When you say software are you thinking just of DAW based stuff or are there boxes you’d consider too?

    The Batman

Wasn’t sure where to put this but I watched The Batman yesterday and really enjoyed the sound design so I wanted to recommend it. So much gritty and raunchy bass going on. Just wait till the batmobil turns up ❤️❤️

    Drum machines like the Volca

Yeah it’s that analogue sound really. The Volca has a lovely deep kick and the hats range soft and crisp to very crunchy. Wasn’t looking to spend a fortune. Hopefully Uber $300.

    Mpc one

I’m kinda hoping they release a new one so the existing one plummets in value

    Drum machines like the Volca

I've a Volca Beat which I love the sound of, but it's broken now. I was going to get another but then I wondered if there's something better that maybe has a similar analogue sound. Something like the Arturia Impact or the Tanzmaus? Anyone got any recommendations?

The new Mac studio looks awesome!

Very curious. I'm in the market for a new Mac. Was going to go for a macMini but this could be way better. Any idea of prices?

Is a Digitakt worth a try?

I love it, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for everyone. I wouldn't recommend it as a stand-alone unit for sure. I bought it mainly as a drum sequencer. I debated going with something analogue like the Drumbrute but decided sample-based would give me more flexibility. Certainly, paring...

    Dreaded clicks

It seems to be the Scarlet AU. When I go straight into the MPC it’s fine. I suspect maybe I’m not using the gain control correctly. What’s best practice here? Should The signal into the Scarlet be pretty hot and I should keep the gain setting on the input low? I’ve been having the gain setting...

    Dreaded clicks

No clicks when playing. Only when I play it back. It’s definitely happening during the recording because the clicks occur exactly the same time. My brief research suggests it might be with using the Scarlet as AU set to 32inputs. Might be a burden on the MPC apparently.

    Dreaded clicks

So is this going to be a nightmare? I’ve got a Circuit Rhythm > guitar pedal > scarlet 18i8 > usb hub > MPCOne and Im getting clicks when I record into the MPC sampler. Never noticed this before. Do I just go through the chain and see what’s causing it or is it something obvious?

Is a Digitakt worth a try?

Just to finish this thread off I got a Circuit Rhythm instead. Pairing this with Samples from Mars library makes for a really sweet drum machine. Happy to answer questions on it. I would add that rechargeable batteries need to become an industry standard. So handy.

How Are You Saving Your Projects, Etc.?

My MPC work goes onto the internal SD card. Anything that then gets “promoted” to Ableton gets saved to my iCloud folder which means the project syncs across lap top and iMac.

What kind of interface do you have?

I had a Scarlet 2i2 but upgraded to the 18i8 2nd gen when they were selling them off. It might be a good fit for you as you can use the software to set it up as a mixer.

    Paying for a mix?

Will do! Certainly a lot more affordable. Have you used soundbetter at all?

    Paying for a mix?

Just curious if anyone has payed a professional to mix their stuff? I'm tempted to try it as an experiment, just not sure if it's worth the expense, or what the process is like. I had a look at soundbetter.com but those guys are way out of my budget!! Is there anywhere else worth checking out?
