Signups

The signups will be on May 5th at 12pm ET/EST, and end around 8pm ET, or until we have enough contestants (whichever comes first - depending on the theme). Voting will be for one day, on May 6th, where the results will be posted the same day.

Theme: NO BOOM BAP! (NOBB) (DJ Premier, MPC style, classic Rap style, etc....)
Time Limit: 3 minutes
Vocal Track Allowed?: YES

*NOTE: From now on there's a criteria called "vocal track allowed?". It will be yes or no. If it's "yes", this means you can have a full vocal track with your beat (acapella, for example). You can still have occasional vocal snippets (but don't rely on them too much).

You can use whatever sounds you want, samples, synths, just remember to read the rules for the rest of the restrictions. What the judges will be looking for is originality, creativity, mixing skills and overall dopeness!

Voting

If you are competing, you will be able to vote but not for yourself. DO NOT TRY TO CHEAT! I will be watching for cheaters. This means you cannot sign up under different names or get your friends and family to sign up either. If you are caught cheating you could be banned.

Beats

All the beats will now be displayed in a random order and without any names. All you will see is: Beat #001, Beat #002, etc. This is so that there is no favouritism when voting.

That's some theme. No wonder I see @Drago Zetić producing some trap!

But what's interesting, is, the theme doesn't say "TRAP", so will be interesting to see how people may take this.

Though I strongly imagine most will interpret this as 'make trap'. Pretty sure the voting will likely reflect this.

I'm curious to see those who decide to make something that is neither trap nor boom bap.

LOL. All themes are meant to be interpreted how you want. No boom bap just means no boom bap. Like you said though, most might think it means "make trap" but it doesn't. You can submit a country song or muthafuckin' EDM for all I care, just as long as it's still Hip Hop.

I can't always specify exactly what the beat should be. Look at that whole "no drums" fiasco. That was a nightmare.

not really sure how it works, at a guess Id say kicks where snares should be and snares where kicks should be

2017 was saturated with trap type styles on illmuzik. It was me, I think drago and a few other dudes against twenty trap beats. ijs.
I like some trap tho, i ain't on that trap and bap war. Shits mad corny.
