Just copped over the weekend.

Now I gotta collect a few expansion boards for it as well as a rom card or two.

I also need a new keyboard stand 'cause I gotta get a small rack to put this thing in and the only space I have for it would be under my controller.

Nice! @konceptG

I’ve been itching for one of these rack modules, but I know that’s a deep rabbit hole that’ll end up costing me more money than I’m willing to spend lol.

Maaaaaan, who you tellin!!! I'm already looking at a couple of SR-JV expansion boards, rom cards, and a memory card so I can save new patches. One expansion can cost me more than I paid for the module!

At the same time... I'm glad to be getting out of the box for a lot of my sounds and effects, so in the end it's worth it to me.

Getting out the box can be great.

I have a few hardware synths, I like just goofing around with them sometimes. No
Real intent to make music, just get a simple drum loop going on the MPC 1000 and go. If something sounds interesting, it gets sampled into the 1K.

Looking forward to hear what you come up with this box!

I have found the Presonus DAW and Hardware integration is great for my workflow. But I'd still get down with Acid Pro using a cracked serial number ‍♂️

Nice setup. I was an independent contractor and bought a PC a couple years ago for work, now that I have a corporate laptop I’m thinking about just buying acid pro to fuck around with in that PC.
Acid Pro is what I started on back in early 2000s. Super fun introduction to loop based production. Before that I used an SP 303... still miss that little guy.

Such a cool piece of software. I started in Fruity Loops then moved to Acid Pro because sampling was such a breeze on it.

It’s like $160, I figure I’ll give it a go. If anything, the loop library it comes with alone, may be worth it.

You gotta get the Eris 8 subwoofer to set that right. I have the same monitors, but I got the Eris 8 sub with mine.

Over the summer my middle daughter came through for a week and wanted me to record her singing for an audition. I realized I was sorely lacking in the vocal processing dept, as my only hardware compressor was a single knob on the little Behringer mixer I was running the mic through (for some stupid reason, it didn't dawn on me to just run stick a compressor/limiter and channel strip VSTfx's on an insert in Sonar). Vocals turned out ok, better than if she had tried recording them with her phone but not good enough, so I went out and bought a mic pre and a Behringer Composer comp/limiter for cheap. Also grabbed a 4 out mic amp (Behringer Power Play XL) 'cause neither of my interfaces has more than one headphone output.

Also copped a rack with a space for a mixer on top, but I haven't used it yet 'cause I have to re-arrange everything to make space for it. Plus, I need to find rack ears for the mixer that's going in it (Behringer UB2222FX-Pro), so there's that.

Anywho, this is my work area as of now.

@konceptG Damn that's a nice addition to your setup! Plus, I haven't seen that Midiman rack in ages.

I got it somewhere between the compressor and the preamp. Only $50 at a local used instrument shop.

Literally while typing that ^^^ last night I finally found the latest driver and patchbay software for it so I'm finally going to get it connected this weekend to replace my current MIDISport 4x4. There's a chance it will work with the same driver as the 4x4, but I wanted to have that just in case.

Lucky. The shops near me are crap!

We only have the one. There's a pawn shop near campus that gets stuff every now and again, but rarely ever anything good. Years ago there were maybe 4 shops that sold instruments in the immediate area, one of which I worked at for a bit. All but one closed and that one specializes in used stuff.

I think there comes a time where most of us have had to sell off gear in order to take care of bills. This is probably my 5th, 6th, or 7th time having to do it. Had to catch an emergency flight at the end of last month. Didn't sell off all of it, only the majority of my sound sources; I did keep my Boss DS330 and Yamaha QY100. Got royally screwed on the price but didn't really have a choice. So, this is what I'm working from now.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I've had to do that a few times in my life as well. It sucks, but what's cool is you can get the thrill of the hunt again by looking for new gear again one day. Also, props on that Follow the Leader LP. One of my favs of all time!
