Annalisa Flip:

Nice intro, bass comes in nicely. Sound selection is dope too. I like the composition, but do feel it still needs some work. It's a little too static/predictable to my liking. (A bit on the "safe" side if that makes sense.) Adding even more swing to the drums and piano (bounce) and really empasize the change of chords at the end of each 4 or 8 bars would get the job done IMO. For example, at 1:30, bass goes down but the strings stay the same... If you let the strings go up (in the same scale, maybe even syncoped or with double tempo) the track will generate more movement/excitement. As a standalone instrumental, I think a bridge would really finish it.

Rapid Fire:

This is dope, I like the dark moods/atmospehere, proper brag and boast beat! Nice job on the part where the extra strings come in. I guess that's what you ment by inspired by Lord Finesse (and the sleighbells of course)... @ 1:02 it seems like the bass is clashing, but maybe it's insuperable because it was already in...

Thanks, I will definitely be returning to them both and will keep your comments in mind when I do. Will be back to beatmaking after work on thursday

Nice one @TWU

Me and @BiggChev did a rapid fire sample flip challenge. 30 mins from starting from scratch to posting it on here.

Will try make it a regular thing for anyone who is about in the chat. Sometimes it what's you need. No time to overthink and the fact that @2GooD Productions was inspired by it says it must work to some degree.

Annalisa:
I think this is a great example of your sound comes across a bit more stripped back and reserved. The drums still have weight and the mix has your usual brightness to it, but the whole piece feels just a bit more restrained. Musically, it's a very 'complete' beat. Even that bit at 1:37, fits, but I don't think I would've missed it - nor would I have grown bored of what was already going on. The horns towards the end are great. The turn around at the 1:32 mark was really well done too!

Rapid Fire Flip:
This is cool, I like how you took @hosie's soulful bit a bit darker. I love seeing these collabs and how one thing can morph into something else really fucking cool with someone else's influence. Definitely need to run some more Rapid Fires.

This is pure gold. Perfect as a pool theme. To me, there's just too much delay on the solo guitar; that's not nice. In reggae, the echo is typically placed on the third beat of each measure, rather than on the quarter beats. I don't want to say you can't break the rules, but you can achieve some improvement in some way with that delay, in my opinion. Besides this, it's excellent! Bomboclaat!

not all my tracks are with sample, but often in hip hop beats. So I came up with this track, where there aren't any (although maybe it's more reggaeton than hip hop )

I'm listening to it again, and it's really a bomb. The drum pattern and the details are nuances that make the piece stellar. I could put it on loop and stay there for hours. The guitar solo... I'm not sure. Maybe it's not the delay; perhaps it's the repetition of the last phrase, the one at 0:16. I'm not even sure what doesn't convince me, whether it's a technical thing or a matter of taste, but something there doesn't quite match the quality of the piece, for me. It needs some other opinions!

Thanks… I think? Haha. I’m playing all the instruments on this track. Full size electronic drum set, guitar and bass btw.

Skank:
Growing up on Dub/Reggae...I really like this. Extra props for playing on the instruments. You nailed the bass tone for this style of music. I especially like the jazzy little embellishments with the guitar. My only critique would be that it doesn't kick into a second gear. So me big horns or something carrying a simple, but memorable, melody is where I heard this going.

The Wind of God:
Crazy how well you can switch genres/styles. That overblown brass is fucking foul! Juxtaposed beside the delicate, still, haunting piano was one hell of a creative decision. You already know how I feel about the drums lol - so I won't comment on them. I'd really like to see this get fleshed out with a proper B-Section and maybe even a mellow middle section. That descending arp on the piano especially caught my ear.

@attila

Ruge:
This is an interesting piece. The drums and perc definitely are on the fringe of conventional hip-hop - but they are really cool. This kinda reminds me of Trash Scapes by Ellen Allien. There's an industrial quality to this tune. Sound selection is very interesting and everything works well together. I think there was a crazier more un-orthodox idea you initially had that was reigned in a bit. While I think exploring that idea would venture far outside the realm of hip-hop...it would've made for a more interesting tune. Texture and atmosphere is really cool on this. Maybe not something I'd listen to regularly, or would probably benefit from vocals, but definitely cool.

Out of My Life:
The intro caught my attention right away. I really love this style of drums. I have very little critique to share. This is a phenomenal piece of music. In fact, I think you wasted it on the Showcase...this could be a serious contender for a battle. You have a great ear for sample selection and more specifically the pieces you use. Great beat!
