See that's the difference with today vs. old school! I never check to see what key it's in I just go by ear. Sometimes it matches, sometimes it doesn't. I understand if you want to get the key, that makes it easier but I prefer to go by ear. I know with Studio One it has a feature where it analyzes the samples and tells you. I don't know about FL. It probably does.
can you believe i cannot play the piano, i play by ear. Still need to know the root note though. Such a struggle for me cause im very unstructured in beat making...

you and me both, took me years of mistakes to get there, but I got there in the end, as long as I can hear what sounds right or wrong thats the most important bit, a little bit of using two hands to play can help, but you dont need to be able to bang out a Chopin Nocturne to make good music, you need good ears and a bit of patience

@Memento Beats i always love your beats. The fact that i can hear when its yours is pretty awesome. I can also hear @2GooD Productions pretty easily as well.
yeah, that the downside of having developed your own style, it becomes recognisable. Doesnt matter how we mix it up, little things that we always do give it away

lol let me try sample something. For once, see how bad it goes.

I used to never sample too man, I didn't even know what it is! until I met kanye, I fell in love with his music, got obsessed with him, haven't listened to almost ANY other music for like... 6 months. started overthinking on how he makes songs then realized it's all sample. that's when I started sampling, my first thing was I think... a Chaka khan sample.

it really adds another tool to the arsenal, dive right in, my big tip for sampling is always chop where the waveform is on the zero point, zoom right in until you can hardly zoom any more to make it perfect that way you avoid pops.
I dismissed sampling until I came here and realised its need in hip hop, especially at that time. Trap was shit back then.

@Primz One thing I always recommend starting out is to sample some loop and add a drum break on top. So both are loops. At least it gives you a starting point then maybe just do your own drums on top of the drum break and follow the pattern or something. Then work on the sample loop you have and just move parts around. Let's say it's 4 bars, then take bar 3 and put it at bar 1, etc. Something like that. It's all about experimenting. Like drugs.

Thought I'd Check Back To see What's What

My Fave 1 From This WZ

Thanks mate. Appreciate that. Maybe I will have to rethink it all once again. I planned to record something about this Warzone tomorrow but I think I will need more time to go through every beat with a cold head. Anyway, new episode is definitely going to be posted on Monday.

@Beatmaker88 I mean to tell you, round 4 your beat I thought it would be great if at 31 seconds you kept that little breakdown for a few seconds more and had that piano part go up a notch. The part at 31 was great, I was expecting you to go up a scale on the next bar. That would have been dope.
