Diskrete - Love the drum pattern, and that kick. wondered if when solo the drums could glue a bit better together? They sound alright when rest of mix comes in. At first didn't really think the drums fit with the first melody, but, it all sounds really sick. Musically, the patterns flow the way...- Iron Keys

Ha! Funny you should say, some engineer I got a little masterclass from, was telling me about building your own outboard gear... he told me never to buy/create a Pultec eq... he said he made a couple of his own (they sound amazing), but some guy pointed out to him that the valves(or whatever)... -

Seeing as my beloved TapeSim keeps crashing (not to mention some weird sudden stability issues with TruePiano), I sought out some tape/saturation plugins to do a similar job... I got recommended both, Ferric TDS and Voxengo Tube Amp ... going to give them both a try and see what I get... -

Sucio - skitzo sounds a bit Kool G Rap in places, in terms of his vocal tone. cool vibe on this track, I like it, develops nicely. The kick has a nice thump, but not much pop - dunno if this is more of a mix/preference. If the beat had a bit more sheen/less muddiness, I think it'd sound real...- Iron Keys

If you've got more than one artist/rapper on the track, how important is it to record through the same mic/pre-amp??? I understand some rappers will have a certain set-up that gives them their sound... How detrimental or not could this prove to the consistency of the track??? -

Line in / Microphone in too loud when recording vinyl
Is there any gain/volume/trim control on the pre-amp? If so, whacking it right down could be a good idea. -
Adding 'Weight' To Your Snare Hits
That's largely what I'm saying - but I bet barely many at all consider this... Also when whacked through a tonne of high end outboard, and re compressed, limited, converted etc, this will add more degradation to the snare... Could enhance it, but ultimately more distortion, perhaps not an... -

I love big gritty-ass drums too. What I'm saying though is if a snare for example has already been grittified to the max, then had mastering on top of it, then you process it and crunch it even more, it still has to go to mastering. Could easily end up way over processed/clipped/distorted...
